Change engine oil and chain case oil. Take the seat off and let the water drip out. Doesn't look like the motor got wet.

If the motor did not go under the water then I highly doubt any water got in the oil! But I would drain the chaincase and refill as well as pop all seals out of the drive and skid bearings as if they where hot/warm then submerged for a while they will pull water past the seal and water in bearings is not good.

If that is a far as the sled got submerged in the picture then I would say no water got in the motor! If your unsure and it makes you feel better change the oil. If the oil is murky/creamy its got water in it, check your dipstick!

Glad you are ok.
By the looks of the pic I would say it stalled due to fuel starvation. All the fuel would be at the back of the tank providing you had less than half a tank.
The chaincase nor motor would have water in it if the picture is the worst of the scenario.
Remove the seat and take the cover off to allow the foam to dry out. Dry out the electrical for the tail light. For peace of mind I would remove the skid and go through all the bearings.
Meaning take every wheel off and remove the bearing. Remove the seals from the bearings and clean them up. Put some good synthetic grease back into the bearing and reinstall everything.
Your "wet" experience could have been a lot worse.

Also check you relays bove left foot well, may have gotten wet from back splash/water flow from stopping/slowing down like a boat, water may have made it up tailpipes too:dunno:.gear case oil just to make sure too

Well there's definitely water in the motor I changed the oil twice and is still milky guess I will be getting more oil after work today to try to flush it out I I bought one kit and and came with a filter ya think o should change it at the end or do it know and keep filtering new oil through?

Another thing that was my first ride on the apex just bought it was having trouble with a f1000 so I said screw it and bought this and will tend to the f1 this summer I really like the yammi and have had a few yammi bikes in the past so figured I'll give there sleds a try...but back to the apex I read in the manual I can fill the oil resivor with 2.1 courts and start it is that correct? Can I just keep flushing it with 2.1 courts?

Do not just keep flushing it with 2.1 quarts... it wont work...I put mine under also. The apex exhaust is higher than the motor, and so you need to hang the sled from her nose and let the water in the exhaust drain out first. Otherwise you will keep contaminating the motor it as you turn it over. After draining the exhaust, it took four of the 2.1 quarts oil changes to get the oil clear, and then I did the full oil and filter change. (pain in the #*$&@, but an water oil sludge in your filter will just recontaminate it again.) Then I drove it for 15 minutes and then did one final oil/ filter change. (pita) You also need to do all the wheel bearings, and also dry off and di electric greases any electrical connections that were under. Take your seat to an upholsterer during the summer and skin the seat and leave the foam in a greenhouse for the summer months and then reattach. The seat lost 12 pounds of water over the summer.

Thanks for the advice rat man I did what u said and tippied my sled up....but I had it running fine and and I took my seat off and now when I start it I'm getting a check engine code is that normal to get a check engine code wen u unhook your tail lights? How do you even check to see what code its throwing?

Is it just the fuel light because of the angle?

I lifted it up got all the water out sat it back down then we took the seat off so I can set it in my bath tub for a few days so the water will drain out....so maybe the taillights not being hooked up is throwing a code?when I started flushing again I started my motor to cycle it and the little ! Mark started flashing with the little check engine light symbol non stop...I just put the airbox and battery stuff back in so maybe I knocked one of them relays loose that hook to the battery bracket?

You are getting great advice, this site is amazing. As an aside, how thick was the ice and was it a river or lake.

It was out on the bay and as far as the thickness not sure but it was in a crack

The second topic of this site is "attack apex common questions". Go to that string and you will see the error codes. It will tell you which fault you have. Hopefully, just an unplugged sensor.
