Hi all new to the forum, i have a 2018 winder with precision efi stage 3 tune. was out riding other day doing about 10 km sled died as if the kill switch was hit. tried to start everything powets up as it should but starter wont crank? did this a few times then sd 12 shows on dash. trailered sled home to shop tried again sd 12 and the rpm readout is stuck on 5500 rpm, turned the primary manually and code went away but no start. tested tps ohm reading seems ok. tested the crank position sensor as well serms good. tried jumping the starter and got nothing? any help or direction would be awesome.

can you turn the primary counter clockwise by hand?

did you check all of your fuses?

Entirely possible. The good news is that I don't think your engine is piled up, bad news is you might be solving for electrical issue. Somebody else might have to take it from here, the SD 12 is a new one to me

Hard to say for sure. But start with the basics. Battery may be bad? Even if you have some sensor or other electrical problem should at least crank over even if doesn’t start. Put volt meter on battery do you have 12-13 volts? Try to start what does voltage do at battery?

yup battery is st 12.4 even tried boosting. i woyld think that if it was the crank sensorvit would still turn over?. the weird thing i tried jumping the starter and nothing?

Something odd going on. If starter is faulty almost seems like 2 problems? Does the 12.4v at battery change when turn key to start... go to 0 ?

The crank position sensor is a misnomer. Its really the stator and pickup coil from which the pulse generated by the coil happens to be aligned with the crank position. When you tested the crank sensor you were testing the pickup coil. The stator sounds like it is bad. Purely from your description (driving along, dies) sounds like a battery related issue, this will happen when the stator dies as the stator no longer produces voltage output and the sled has to rely on battery which of course is only going to last so long. 12.4v on your battery is low, it should be 12.6 or higher just sitting there. This may be another indicator that the stator is gone as it appears the battery wasn't charging properly. If your stator is bad and even if you can get the engine to turn over, it will not start or if it even does it will die shortly. If it was just the battery the sled would start from a jump. You could always give the battery a charge and try from there but chances are it won't matter. There are a few other cases of the stator dying, found using the advanced search.

ok thank you for thst infoif the stator was bad wouldnt it still crank over? unless i have 2 problems that happened at once lol

Could the stator or voltage regulator be bad?
Yes. But think a good battery should crank it over. The odd time a battery can do odd things, go open or short under load. I know you said you tried jumping it, but try another battery or fully test current one.
