I just read a dealer post...who rode it...he claims it did 122 mph on gps!!!!
That is unheard of for a stock snowmobile!!!....so you can stop with the Apex is gonna be faster crap.

I love my apex xtx...but no way will it touch that speed...I know some of you moded apex guys might give it a good run...but keep in mind the sidewinder is stock...a little modding and this thing might push 130.

I think the ski doo guys just pooped a little...lol...the "Mach Z" they were waiting for...just got released by Yamaha (and Cat):die:Rockon:

I know a couple guys that just got back from out west test riding all the new sleds. One said this sled was all the buzz. Claimed he was on the mountain model and wicked it and it was at 117 before he knew it. He said all the writers were saying.....wow we keep asking for more power, more power....have we just went over the line? Said they never dreamt a stock machine would come this powerful. Yamaha just flexxed their muscles. Sounds like this motor/turbo development has been in the works for 5 years, before the Cat relationship began. I assume that is why they got to release theirs first.

Over on Dootalk I got a kick out of one guys statement. Claimed " you know we keep picking on the Yamaha sleds cause they're heavy, but I have to admit, that Apex is 10 years old and its quite a feat to beat one with any of the top line sleds. This new Yamaha just kicked the crapout out of an Apex. Whatever you think of Yamaha that's gonna sell some sleds and some guys will be jumping ship. Hats off to Yamaha. "

I know guys are talking negative about this sled...but honestly this is IMPRESSIVE....as an apex guy....what exactly can I complain about?? Not being built in japan, and the sound is about it. Anybody who has ridden a viper..knows they handle and ride very good (when set-up properly)....the one thing us apex guys didn't like was the lack of power...the viper feels flat compared to an apex.....can't really say that about the sidewider.

What is the gearing! Thunder cat is suppose to be 24/50 if it is!

122 mph

i dont think so.... Or Maybe the clutch are magical....

my question is is the chaincase gonna explode like a buch of vioers. untill they fix this and can prove to me it feels as powerfull as the apex ill stick to my modded attak

Well I trust the source who posted it...he's as honest as they come, and with that much HP...I don't doubt it

Its pretty easy to talk #*$&@ on day one.
When only a handful know what this really is and know its true potential.
Once this sled hits the trails its gonna kick the living crap out of anything in its path.
Other than maybe a turboapex , turbo viper, or modded turbo cat.
Bottom line here it #*$&@ talk is easy.
But you wont see anyone talking after thier #*$&@ gets handed to them in a race.
It feels good to be on the kings team. Lol

till the chaincase explodes and the old apex tows it to a roadlol but i realy hope it is better.

122 on GPS is a very nice speed out of the box....i guess there will be a ton of us wanting this new sled.

I would assume after reading the PDF that yammie has paid attention to the chaincase knowing the big power will need lots of strength in the gears ect.

Im sure there will be some teething issues as usual but this is no 2s, so at least motor wise thing should be solid. My only gripe will be the handling due to motor not being lower. I would have liked to see that more then anything.

Anyone hear any dry weight numbers? I heard lighter then the 9000 SUK.

Dan

a big plus for me is it is now out that everything about this sled is apparently Yamaha, no A/C electronics, parts etc. Sounds like a true Yamaha breed? If so, after the year of the guinea pig, 2018 will be the year for me.

I agree. Give em a year. Find and let the bugs get worked out and then open the wallet. I hope I can wait that long. :sled1:

In the cat video of the engine, they said the engine is 10-15lbs lighter than the Zuk twin.
