Bought the Yamaha one because I needed to spend the $600 in accessories, very hard to do when they offer basically nothing...

Its is a very nice piece!!!
Shipping and exchange rate just hurt us Canadians too much
I would not venture 2ft off trail without skid protecting brake and chaincase on this chassis. Been there done that. It's ugly and sucks on week old sled.

Any other good options for protection?
No. Not that I have seen. So just stay on trail till they are in.

Racewerx makes a nice billet machined replacement for the stock plastic covers. Pricey but probably the best option.

On the Vipers it did, from the pictures it looks like the Sidewinder plate has been redesigned and does NOT cover those areas.
Wow I hope thats rethought. I dont think I know anyone who hasnt had to get out the Oak 2x4 and sledge to straighten things out if they went off trail without. I think even snow will bend the sides up into brake rotor and chaincase. On the Vipers it did, from the pictures it looks like the Sidewinder plate has been redesigned and does NOT cover those areas.
