When lapping, should clutch be spun only CCW, or both ways to get a good grind ? Know not to spin crank CW, but what about clutch, just spin it back and forth. Will clutch not grab with compound in there ? Thanks.
I only spin mine forward on the 998 with the engine off. I apply lots of push on the center of the clutch, if it was to rotate the engine backwards it could be bad. I've seen firsthand the exhaust cam get out of time when rotating the crank backwards. You don't want that trust me. Yes its going to grab the crank and turn it at some point.
All the maters is the clutch gets lapped on. I've even lapped the clutch while the engine runs, but I wouldn't recommend it to others for obvious reasons, I get by with it because I'm a mean SOB and shake hands with danger everyday.

Did Yamaha fix the issue with the fixed sheave on the winder primary yet?
Do the new ones still torque on like a dead log?
