Singleshot alternate shock solution..

I would guess its in the set up and I am sure it needs a valving change... I know what good riding sleds are, I have 2 vipers with floats all the way around on them, 2 Apex with Monos and a 1 Apex with an M20... not that I know anything about a suspension but it takes all season to get them right..LOL. The star kit on a XTX is not the ticket either.. its a bandaid.. but thats just me.

I guess different strokes for differnet folks.. but IMO, the quality of a sled's handling is directy proportional to the speed at wich you can ride while staying in control. When i had my 2016 Apex, i was incapable of following anything from a 600 and above, BRP, Polaris, and Arctic Cat... the guys i ride with... all fast riders, and when i switched sleds with them, they where the ones in the back incapable of following me, so that was the proof, ... you might think your sled is not bad untill you measure it to another one, then you realize how slow or fast your where going..

Actually, i am now riding a 2011 Apex Monoshock 128 inch, with aftermarket shocks in the front and C & A skis, and i am in the front of the pack... my proof has been quite staggering, i'm just sharring my experience so others might avoid a 5000$ mistake like i made buying a 2016

No one can catch me. They all say the 35 to 40 foot of chunks my back country x track throws upon them is real pretty too.......

I don t have any problem keep up with the group I ride with my singleshot xtx i still have my 07 apex ER only thing is the xtx is harsher riding than my mono but I think star shock kit will fix the problem

well maybe a 146" has a better ride than a 129"! some guys have already give up a with the singleshot 129" even with elka shock and they order a fast supspension. I cannot believe that Yamaha will not release an upgrade for 2017 at least another shock absorber.

The one that I rode was a 146", I never tried the 129. Just an FYI.

yep, a freind of mine, ex racer, has given up also on the single shot with after market shocks.. put in a M20 platinum .... the singleshot is not very durable...broken bolts and stuff every other ride...granted they are not regular rides, but his other sleds skids last longer.. but this is a free speech forum, you make what you want of the information here..

I am 56 years old, ride 97 miles today. Single shot is kicking #*$&@. Seems to me every generation gets softer.....haha

ok, this guy doesn't ride like me..put in very low psi in the fox floats and the will be plush.. but will bottom out and the front end will be walsy as hell, but if you ride touring style, you might be satisfied..me not my riding style.. the Apex is supposed to be THE performance sled in the Yamaha Lineup,... not the touring sled.. IMO

Actually it falls into a grand touring class. The cars such as Aston Martins and front motor ferraris and big high powered cars are what this emulates. Good handling and no corners cut plush ride compared to the sport segment. And big power.

Now fox has stated never run under 50psi in the float and it sounds like 150 on whatever this rear shock is they designed for the single shot. Problem is that by "softening" the "spring" you are also reducing preload because of the barbaric incompetent air shock design. His sled has to be about on the ground. And risking blowing out seals every time it takes a big hit and leaving you with 0 "spring" holding your sled up

Just give up... your not going to convince those that like it, not to like it. So just give up trying to convince them it dont work...because for them it does. You get it?
