Ski Options

I have the C&A XTX skis with 8 inch shaper bars. It handles great like a slot car and floats beautiful, but they dart a little to much for my liking. So I have to make some adjustments to Change that! I can't stand darting or inside ski lift!! I was thinking about Curve XS skis, but can't swallow another 600 bucks for another set of skis. Wife would kill me?

$600?!?! The Leader System starts at $350 and offers the same performance of the XS system... same ski, same loop, different loop hardware :sled1:

I would want the best that you have. So wouldn't that be around 600$. If I can get a set up that I like for 350 then who do I talk to.

Where are you guys getting 600 from? The XS's are like 400 bucks with a hardware kit. Are you including carbides, LE's and thrusters or something?

for those with 6.9s, how easy were they to retrofit? was steering effort increased? stock skis almost feel like you have power steering.

I had to cut off majority of the bottom knobs on the stock rubbers, then got them to fit pretty easy. Definitely feel heavier steering, but 10x better control and feels like on rails. Slight push, but nothing compared to the stock skis. Overall, very happy with them.

C&A's going on the sled today, i'll let you guys know how they work out.

I'll be interested in this review. I've tried semi snowtrackers, deuce bars and stock runners.....still not a predictable ride

Did what kind of C&A do you have?

i've tried 6.9s easy steering but pushes in powder.
the simmons worked good but twichy on hard pack and stiffer steering.
then tried my stock skies from my pror switchback they are mt skies and i have dual 6 inch carbides on them
worked really good.
have to try them on some powder to see how much push i get.
6.9s were easy to install shaved me stock rubbers down to fit.
the same rubbers worked on the polaris skis also.
so my sled now is a polhamcat
update on polaris ski s push to much in loose snow.
trying curves today but with only 4 in carb.. we will see how it goes. a loaner set to see if i like....

I was out the other day with my curves. The day started really soft with warm temps, then it started cooling off dramatically, then there was some snow and heavy, heavy winds which resulted in some crazy drifts across the trail.

Whether it was soft and sticky, frozen and icy, or powdery and drifted, the curves and shaper bars always went exactly where I pointed the sled. I was once again impressed with these things. No matter how drastically the conditions changed they just worked. my only complaint is that on real hardpack it does get a little twitchy and darty, but only at lower speeds or right after getting off-throttle. Its nothing like the stock skis on either the apex, pahzer, or viper, but its still there.

I dont have the LE's. Its not even bad enough to make it worth the money or trouble to be honest. I didnt want to sound like a damned saleman for curves, so I figured I had to put at least one gripe in there.

Glad you like your skis Mike!

I used the ski doo pilot rubbers. Had to cut off about a 1/4" off the bottom.
Toed ski's out 1/2".

The 6.9s work great. Steering effort about the same to me as stock ski's.
They track and corner great in the hard pack.
Very little darting.

Some push in the deep soft snow but float great.

I,ve got the Curves with 4 inch round bars and 4 inch leading edge this setup works real well. One thing about this chassis small changes make a big difference on how the sled works. Even changing the centre shock spring a couple of turns either way is huge for ski pressure.
