I having the same issues my viper has heavy steering tack walks all over
And skid bottoms out wearing the skid in places. yamaha say there going
To change the parts that are wearing out on the skid ok.
That's not fixing the problem.
My viper is new the tunnel is staight the drivers are good they checked.
I think it's center shock causing these problems . I think the weak center shock
Is not keeping the track tight enough. when the skid is moving up and down.
And that's causing the track to walk all over wearing it and the drivers
The skid bottoms and the clips wear on the skid the weak spring is doing
This I think and it causes to muchpressure on the ski heavy steering.
My yamaha guy is holidays I'm going see what he says about it .
If yamaha won't fix the problem I'm going to try zbros shock and spring
And a four wheel kit if shock dose not fix the walking track problem .
It makes sense to me let me know if this helps . If any one has a better idea
Or have done the shock upgrade let me know

What part of your skid is wearing? The wire wear strips on front arm? If so all the models do that. Notice that the top eyelet of shock still looks new. These wear wires prevent track from rubbing the shock which is seen on many skids. Obviously the less suspension uses full travel the less wear there will be. Sled does not have to bottom for this wear to happen and you want to use all the travel. Mine were about half worn at 5000 mi I was going to just weld a small bead the length of the wire and smooth it nice but found a crack starting on the right tube where it meets the cross tube so I just bought a new arm. They are pretty inexpensive. In defense of the part I have never had any Yamaha front arm on my SRX or Phazer last 5000mi without cracking. Very common. That said if you are bottoming often for sure get something done.I having the same issues my viper has heavy steering tack walks all over
