Sled died and now nothing

So I was out for a ride this week and my sled started to run weird, power kept cutting in and out. Pulled over and shut things down to take a look. I turned the key and the fuel pump was studdering so I thought it was just the pump relay. Managed to get back to camp and took the relay inside for the night. Put the relay back in the next day and the sled ran fine for about 10 minutes. The sled was idling and them it just shut off, now there is now power at all when I turn the key off and on. The gauge flashes for a split second but nothing else. I put jumper cables on it in case the battery all of the sudden pooched but still no power to anything on the sled. I am new to yamaha and have only had the sled for about 3 weeks now. It is a 2010 xtx with about 7000km on it. Is there something that I should check right off the bat like a master fuse or a relay or something? Any help is appreciated as I am a newb and I don't even know where to start.

mine did that and it was a loose connection on my ground wire to the battery. tightned it up and all is good. Sounds like you already checked that though

Check all your connections as well as you load control relay. Shouldn't be anything to major I don't think. Hopefully not anyways.

Yup. Checked the connections and charged the battery. I'm going to look at it more in depth tomorrow but since I don't have a manual I'm kinda in the dark. I guess I will just start at the battery and work my way out following the leads and using a voltmeter check along the system to see how far power is making it.

corrosion in the connector coming off the key switch can cause similar problems. Also check the wire harness behind the primary clutch for rubbing.

I had some spare time to look at it today. Checked all connections, fuses and relays and most were good. Some had corrosion on them so I cleaned them up and put them back together. Still have the same results. When I turn the key the relay that is mounted under the battery clicks and the gauge cluster light flashes quickly but it still will not turn over or prime the fuel pump. My voltmeter was dead so I couldn't check the relays for continuity so I guess that will be my next step. I'm lost here. Anyone have any input at all on what could be happening? I hate not knowing a thing about this sled but I am up to the challenge and I will figure it out. I hope.

Can I replace the load control relay with the red solid state relay? I am going to order one for the fuel pump so if I can replace the one for the load control I will order one for it and eliminate that out of the equation

Yes it's the same as the others. I tend to think that's where your problem is but I've been wrong before. You could try swapping them to see if it cures your problem.

Like Grizztracks said the key switch connection can cause some problems too. Some tend to get pretty hot.

Another rub spot that I found last winter when I had problems was on the left hand side above the secondary clutch. There's a harness in there that can rub threw and cause problems. It's right in by the 12 volt power adapter connection. One or two other members had it worn threw as well. I don't think that's where your problem is but it never hurts to check either. It's mounted to the rad mount. Mine would blow ign. fuses though when it rubed threw.

Does the power first go to the main fuse and then to the load control relay to be put out to other systems? Just trying to figure out the chain of command so to speak so I know where to start looking

I beleive so yes. Do you have a wiring diagram for it yet? I've got a copy of the manual but not sure other then to snipe a picture of it how I can send it to you.

Spent a couple minutes looking at the diagram and here's what it looks like to me.

From battery to main fuse.
Main fuse to load controll relay as well as ign. fuse.
Ign. fuse to key switch.
Key switch back to load crontroll relay.

I didn't go into the starter side as I don't think that's where your problem is but if you need I can look at that too.

Thanks Ryan. I will start with that. No sense going any further as the fuel pump is not priming so even if the starter did work it wouldn't fire. I need to find the glitch before there to work on to the next problem if there is one. I will try switching the relays round to see if the load control relay is the issue. If it were worn through the harness somewhere wouldn't I blow a fuse because of the short?

The Dealer here told a friend of mine that the new red relay is only for the fuel relay. Told him something that if it was swapped for the other relays it might harm the ECU. If there is any truth to that story I have no idea. I was going to by 2 and replace both but he was told different so I just bought the one. Might question them tomorrow when I am there for some other stuff.

They do list them as separate part numbers online. I'm not sure what the difference may be. I think I read one spot where grizztracks had replaced them maybe he can confirm. I had to replace my fuel pump mans load controller relays last winter when they failed. Got new ones in so I haven't bothered to replace them yet.
