I'm new to the sport and just bought a sled. Have a couple of questions regarding insurance.

Is there a company that specializes in sled insurance or do most of you go with your provider of auto/home
Do you get insurance similar to auto insurance? collision, liability, medical, and what levels are common?
Is your sled covered under your homeowners insurance when stored?
What can you expect to pay for insurance?
Can any of this, liability in particular, fall under an umbrella policy?

It varies by state, need more info from another Wisconsin resident. Here in Michigan Progressive has the best rates IMHO and homeowners does not cover it if in your garage. The law here is anything in your garage is covered if you cant buy an insurance policy for it, Example: Tools, if not used professionaly, lawn mower, riding tractor etc. A boat, motorcycle, snowmobile, ATV can be insured so it is not covered on homeowners policy. I do not carry collision, just liability and comprehensive to keep you from getting sued, the medical coverages and covered if stolen or house burns down and destroys sleds, my sleds are older and I can fix them cheaper then the true value if wrecked and getting a pay off. Rates here for liabilty/comprehensive only are 60.00 per sled for a season. Oh BTW, I have riden over 40 years with out a crash, knock on wood, if someone runs into you and they are at fault, we can collect up to 500.00, called mini tort law here, from the other guys insurance company.

Thanks,
$60 a sled seems reasonable. I'll start shopping around and see what the agents say.

Liberty Mutual is awesome for insurance, but you have to have a vehicle insured thu them also.

I have State Farm and its a little more then Liberty Mutual....but the money I am saving on my 6 vehicles covers that extra expense.

I have liberty an full coverage on all 4 sleds is roughly $425 About the only other would be Progressive they are about $75 more
