im thinking of putting a low snow wheel kit a few inches behind the rubber block, do you think it well help. it seems to start getting thinner behind that block to where the slides tip up.

Looking at your setup, there doesn't seem to be any idlers in the middle at all. The spot in the second picture would be an ideal spot to add Doo 135 mm wheels with Doo two bolt mounts as there seems to be enough meat on the rails to accommodate some idlers there. You could also add some in front of the block (same spot above the elongated hole in rail). You could maybe also add some on the inside right at the rubber block. Maybe I'm just getting carried away but I just find it strange that this area is totally lacking wheels. Maybe there is a reason for this with this model?

Check this post by RockerDan that explains it pretty well.

You should also consider swapping the other idlers for the Doo ones. There are tons of posts on the subject, apart from RockerDan's.

Do a search for "idlers" and your model to find other similar setups just in case I'm totally out to lunch here.

yes it didnt come with any in the middle. that was kinda my plan to put them behind forsure and maybe in the front of the block. i havent heard of the skidoo wheels before. i was going to use the whell kit of the mtn max. like it has on the hyfax.

Oh yeah, another thing worth considering is fully clipping the track. Most say that alone will help slide wear. It's also the most labour intensive work. I'm doing that on mine, adding 76 clips. I also added 2 marginal snow wheel kits at the front in the curve.

well i dont want to add alot of weight, i dont ride trail much except to get somewhere. mine has 2 inside and one outside in the front.

Not sure we're talking the same thing here. Sounds like you're talking about the idler wheels. I was referring to the track clips and how only one in three lugs in the track has one. Some also has half the track holes closed but this doesn't seem to be the case with your track. As for the missing clips, not too sure why they do this but I think it's a weight saving measure. Bare rubber doesn't slide well on the hyfax, creating heat but those that run continuously in loose powder don't have problems with this. This is more a problem with those running trails and low snow conditions.

I just picked up my 76 clips and it's a good 5 Lbs. Depending on what the trails are like, I might be putting them on this weekend.

ya i am, sorry i forgot to add idler wheels. well 95% of the time i ride in deep snow. so i dont really want to add clips.

Put a set of ice scratchers on. Cheap fix, not much weight, and flip them up when you get off the trail. :nos

that was a thought, but i would for get to put them up when i go in reverse. i could get the cable scratchers then it wouldnt be a problem. but i dont know how well they work. ive heared some good and some bad.
