I have wear issues with my 07 RTX. If they are only wearing at the curve in the rails then you need to loosen your track and possibly install a marginal snow kit (small wheels at the curve.
If they are wearing in multiple points then there are plenty of threads on here about using aftermarket, Doo or Polaris wheels which are not only a bit taller but also cheaper, longer lasting and have replaceable bearings.

Yamaha is the only sled I've ever owned where you have to use bits and pieces of other MFRs sleds to correct annoying little issues. They got the motors right which is the most important thing and the reason I bought the Yammi but the remainder of the vehicle leaves something to be desired IMO.

What are the part numbers for the narrow and wide slides everyoe is talking about? Are the wide slides the stock ones? I read the narrow have less wear however I can't understand why...

The narrow slides let more snow into the skid providing more lube to the hyfax. I used RX-1 Slides with Graphite; they are the narrow style compared to the Apex wide slides and will need to be shortened to fit. TSMA-8CM92-70-HP $16.95

I bought the SMA-8FU92-00-HP which are the recommended graphite slides for the Apex in the Yamaha catalog. They are about 1 3/8" wide (same as standard).
Some others have used the SMA-8CM92-70-HP graphite slides which are about 1 1/4" wide.
I also am interested in which Polaris slides to use on my '07 Apex GT. Anyone?

Slides wear to line then stop unless hardpack or no snow then wear in front of idlers right after curve.Would like a bigger safety margin without buying all new wheels. If Polaris Hyfax doent wear would be willing to try it since it doesnt cost much.

Sniper, did these go right on with no big problems? did you have to make any mods to the rails or the slides?sniperviper said:RacerDave said:Which brand Poo slides did you use? OEM Edge style?

No they does not go right on, you will have to use soap or something like that as lubricant and a hammer to knock them on. No mods done on the rails or slides.

Did you notice a significant difference in wear from the Yamaha slides??
Thanks for posting!

Yes i do. As earlier stated the polaris slides are lasting longer than the yamaha slides. I got this tips from the yamaha dealer on the iland "Svalbard" They have very hard packed driving conditions there and he told me that the polaris slides lasted up to ten times as long as the stock yamaha's. I dont know if they will last so many times longer but I have no doubt that this slides are made of a better material than the stock ones from yamaha. I now have aprox 1000km on this slides and there is 50% left. The last orginal yamaha ones lasted 200km on hard packed conditions.

Well this is interesting.
My brothers Doo slides cost twice as much as my Yammi slides. If you know the usual price scale for yammi parts compared to the other brands this seems backwards unless.....................You get what you pay for.
