Duponts are best used with a fully clipped track.
A clipped every 3'd track is going to lose vs the Duponts.
I changed my 1,000 mile stock Ripsaw out for a fully clipped Hacksaw on my Turbo sled primarily because I did not want to chance losing the track due to wear & heat at 130 + MPH.

So what's up with the Ice Attack XT? You just installed at the start of the season.
Kaz
It delaminated its right side on its last lake run. Clips were cold was did two full speed left hand turns...I guess it could not take the load?

Well 2950 miles on my Duponts as of yesterday. They do not seem to be wearing much now but I'm close to the wear point of the vespel inserts and will change them for next years trips. Last 450 of so miles have been in some not so nice slider conditions. Lots of gravel and grass / sand riding to get to the trails. If anything will destroy them this should. Hoping for some lake riding next week to up the mileage!
106 mph on the lake hardpack with 3,400 miles on the belt. Revs where a little high at 11,000 I think, New belt for next year! Old one becomes the spare.

Thanks Larry. Not too much
but it sure Hauls Azz.
It's not too quick in 660 or less with the Hacksaw but sure is FAST up top..
Fun to Drive with the Hacksaw though. I'll run the Hacksaw 1 more
year and then go to a fully clipped Ripsaw.

Not to pick too many nits but you sure you didn't accidentally slip an extra zero in there?
LOL yes I did. 25,000 was what I meant. Nice talking with you this winter at the Half Pint, see you next season !

Yes, the 10 mm rule was true of the standard slides since they are made out of a solid material that will wear the same at all thicknesses. From what I have read here, once the Dupont inserts wear too thin they can fall out and then the remainder of the base material wears extremely fast. If the Dupont slide is 20 mm thick with 5 mm thick inserts then they will need to be replaced before they wear down to 15 mm.
suprfst,
Are you 100% certain that the inserts are only 5 mm thick?
If this is true then we need to be concerned before the slides wear down to 15 mm. Can anyone confirm that the inserts are only 5 mm thick?[/quote]
Yes inserts on mine are 5mm thick. I cut off slides where I could see that the insert had just broken out and deburred it and measured thickness, then I compared that with total thickness of a new set.The 5mm measurement is highly accurate. I have a fully clipped 1.25 ripsaw.
Sorry I hadnt gotten back to this thread before, I put on over 5k miles this season and most of that was out of town.

When new I could fit a 19mm wrench over the slider so I'm puzzled by the 20mm! I'm going to check my new set when I get them.
I can fit a 17mm wrench over the slides now with it being quite loose on the slide in places. Tapers to 15mm under the back idler! 3,000 miles on a set makes them worth while for me considering I'm still running the 2011 idler wheels.

Mmm, got me thinking now?
I was/am considering them for my 08 Vector 121 with a stock track (clipped every 3rd) but now I am not so sure?
My current white OEM slides have approx 4-4500 km's on them and in places I can get a 14mm wrench on (mostly in the middle right below the rubber snubbers) but nothing lower.
I currently have the skid out doing some shock revalving/rebuilding etc so now is the time if I am going to do it.
Just debating to get a set of Dupont's, get a new set of white OEM's or leave my current used ones in place for another season??

Leave the current ones. Lots left from what U say.
They are broken in and likely will wear very little going forward.
Got 14,000 km on 06 Apex GT factory slides. Still good when changed due to a 144 track going on this year .

Thanks for confirming that the inserts are only 5 mm thick.
Guys, this means that we need to replace these before they have 5 mm of wear. If they are 20 mm overall thickness when new that means that they need to be replaced before they wear to 15 mm overall thickness. Others have reported that once the inserts fall out then the base material of this slider wears very fast.
I am staying with the regular sliders I have no problems with them I am on my second set of sliders with over 9000 miles on the sled and there is lots left on the 2nd set. This is on a 151 with 2 inch lugs fully clipped.

I dont believe that once inserts are gone the slides wear any faster than a regular slide. Why would they since its made of same material? Like I said before. Just raise sled rear and run your finger under the slide. You will feel if a insert is gone and then next ride replace the slide. Dont worry about a measurement since the slides never have or will wear straight across. Insert will be held in for many mi. These slides do give you piece of mind since stock slide doesnt stop wearing till almost nothing is left.
