Some neat facts about the 06 sleds from tech seminar today

Almost rx1:...the fox float shocks are a multi rate shock, the harder they are compressed the more the valving becomes aggressive to prevent bottomong of the shock. The w-arms are round tube in the mono shock, I think they will be fine in durability terms. No differnt spring rates noted from them as of now, in the apex series, rtx. The gt is set up with a ohlins electronic shocks system. the mono shock system uses needle bearings unlike the bushing style of the old proaction. The new 06 monoshock also has grease zerk fittings in it now. the crankcase vent system is new and redesigned on the 06 as well.

greenmachine, take it as you like but yamaha has outdone the 03-05 rx1, hence the name has been dropped, the new technology is the apex series, enjoy your 03!, was never meant to say your sleds were junk, they are not, but not on the same playing field as the 06.!

When the rx1 came out I thought it was great, very neat and cool idea, and with the emissions std's taking effect real soon. I have played with them, clutching, suspension, track swap, jetting, air filter kits and they can be made to be very impressive, but I never really thought I would have to sell my hotrod srx, cause the hotrod srx would still wax a rx1, then thru evolution, they refined the rx1 and by 05 it was a very stought and very nice riding/handling machine, the introduction of the mono shock skid was a real turning point, along with the continous weight reduction evey year, they handled great and transferred weight like no yamaha ever has done before, but still my ol srx would wax a 05 stocker unless it had a turbo, but now after seeing the 06 sleds, my srx is a model A, its not even close, I should carve up a set of wooden ski's and add a crank handle to the front of the hood!!! I do believe the 06 will be waxing me, time to step up to the technology!! I cant remember being this impressed with a new line up from Yamaha since 97-98!! I am a believer already, cant wait to try clutching and stuff on them, should be alot of non believers converting this year. Its pretty simple, you can either step up to the technology or be left behind, no one is forcing anyone to buy one, but I think your gonna have that feeling inside," I shoulda got one...." if you dont.

Hey MrViper700,
Everyone loves a new product. But don't make it sound like these new models are the only thing to ride. I can guarantee these "marvels" of yours will have problems like every new model introduced. I really like the GT myself, but consider myself smart enough to wait a year or two so all the bugs get worked out. And probably by then, Yamaha will come out with a new line that to some people will made these "new" models look old. They should be faster out of the box as they now have EFI and 5-8 more HP. But that's the same thing we say about a Mach Z, isn't it. I do wish you luck with your new sled and hope it turns out to be everything you hope it is. :4STroke: But I like my 05 just as much you seem to like the 06. And I still think it right up there in leading edge tech, and most of the major bugs have been solved.

While I appreciate the comments as an 03 owner I don't like the slap in the face and if I were an 05 owner I would feel like the comments were a kick in the balls.

Jim

Thats what they said about the 03-04s when the 05 came out. It happens every year. I own an 05 and love it. No kick in my balls, I just wanna find a way to put an 06 in the garage.

Yeah I have an 05 and am already working on selling it to my brother so I can get an 06.

To answer one question the guys at the show told me the monoshock skid is beefed up in the front to accomodate the new rider forward seating postion. I agree with MR Viper 700 in that I have never gotten so much info from a show they had like a movie theatre where we watched a funny video with that skeptical guy. They they did a detailed presentation and the really went out of their way to answer questions. Yamaha seem really serious about the SMB business.

I still don't have my 05 turbo dialed in yet, so I'll stick with the 05 for now.

But I hope you guys buy a bunch of 06's and run the Sh*t out of them. Beat them as hard as you can, and work all the bugs out so the 07's are even better. ;)!

I think my 05RX1ers were the best sled ever to come along but I am glad to be getting rid of them . I feel the 06 is the next step up the line. They will just be that much better and it is hard to be better than the 05RX1.
