Something let go in chaincase

It basicly converts a Cat to the Viper system. I am wondering since a Cat buddy said they originally replaced the spherical bearing but have since went back to stock. If they are surviving with this setup it should survive in our setup. If thats the case I think the 1/4 turn back setting of the chain like our owners manual said may be the cause of the weaker than past bearing to fail.

That is my belief, tight chain tension has always been known to be a killer in any gear chain combination. And the Viper has a spring loaded tensioner so the setting isn't really straightforward if you have not done it before. See several posts in here from guys that had chain noise after dealer chain adjustment and turning adjuster out a round solved it. My opinion of course I have no solid proof.

Man, would I like to have the fixed torque link and a belt drive system for asphalt..... drooooollllll.....

the reason I beleive they still use the sperical bearings and the reason on auto tension the chain ratchets to over tight...and other issues is this chassis is flexing all over the place...Im not bashing an advertiser..I know jim well...he's an awesome seller...but braces like that from many arent the final answer..on the cat...its my belief that its movement mangement and manufacturing tolerance management..(go to onestop performance and see how they are correcting the ctc which is different on every sled!..look at yams bracing...some are blowing belts and some no issues...some chains...some reverse...shits moving and theres no two sleds alike....

a torque wrench, set of verniers and lots of dial indicators (a machinist) is very helpful with this chassis...

Update: Viper was finished on Monday by Port Washington Yamaha. Very fast getting parts and getting the machine back to me, less then a week turn around. Great Job Port!!

The entire case internals and covers were destroyed....everything was covered under warranty.

Taking it out on its first ride after surgery Sat.
