We have slowly been working on several new combinations for the Yamaha/MPI 180 (non-intercooled) turbo kits.
- New intake plenum, quicker throttle response, dropped air intake temps, more horsepower at the same boost level.
- New muffler, quiet, but better flowing, increased horsepower at the same boost level.
- Turbo intake on trail sleds, specifically aimed at getting colder air into the turbo and away from the clutch area of the sled.
- MPI Intercooler upgrade, run up to 6 psi on pump gas at sea level $1449
- MPI fuel pump upgrade, allows you to go up to 9 psi on race gas at sea level $319.95
- MPI 4th Injector upgrade, allows you to go up to 14 psi on race gas at sea level $449
- Head shim kits (either .066" thick (10 lbs on pump gas) or .092" thick (12 lbs on pump gas)) $125
- ARP Head Stud kits (stock head studs are one time use, the ARP studs are stronger and recommended when installing a head shim) $179
- Power Commander V upgrades. A few different ways to option this out, from just changing fuel controllers to adding timing control, etc as well.

Does this: New intake plenum, quicker throttle response, dropped air intake temps, more horsepower at the same boost level work on the intake for the intercooled versions or non intercooled only?

For those non-intercooled guys looking to increase horsepower without turning the boost up.

Are these your upgrades? Or mpi? I'm going to buy an mpi kit so will this be the latest and greatest from them on the trail kit or your special touch to the kit?

Ulmer upgrades, it's our special touch to the trail kit to get some more horsepower out of it without increasing the boost level. Efficiency is key.

Do you have hp numbers for the 2 head shim options running the stated boost levels on pump gas? Does it lose much bottom end power with the lower compression numbers?

10 lbs of boost with the .066" thick gasket is 220-225 hp.
12 lbs of boost with the .092" thick gasket is 240-245 hp.
Bottom end really doesn't seem to suffer, it may slightly, but traction on snow isn't 100%, so it isn't really noticable, it is still very responsive when clutched properly. Maybe @Yamadog will tell you how his low end is with lower compression.

I'll assume you have a good tune up. With that, 17-18 lbs is where I would draw the line, detonation will kill things, not necessarily a certain "pressure point".

Do you have HP numbers for all the options? What would be the the best bang for the buck

Does the ignition module have the ability to add a stutter button? I'm thinking of upgrading to the PCV with the POD as a summer project. I'm not that impressed with the adjustablility of the GEMS. It works fine but I'd like to get it a bit more dialed in.

- New intake plenum, quicker throttle response, dropped air intake temps, more horsepower at the same boost level. Adds 7-8 hp without increasing the boost level. All the factory plug-ins work just like they did on the original MPI/Yamaha kit.
- New muffler, quiet, but better flowing, increased horsepower at the same boost level. Adds 5-6 hp without being obnoxiously loud and doesn't change the boost level.
- Turbo intake on trail sleds, specifically aimed at getting colder air into the turbo and away from the clutch area of the sled. Not a real big HP gainer, but makes the sled more consistant and avoids the heat soak of the intake air coming into the inlet.
- Going with the intercooler upgrade will allow you to run 6 psi on pump gas at sea level. This makes the kit a 190 hp kit. I would take a look at the fuel pump upgrade as well, even if only going to stay at 6 psi, it's cheap insurance on getting plenty of fuel to the motor at that boost level.
- 9 lbs of boost with the .066" head shim & upgraded fuel pump is 210-215 hp, this can be run with the stock quiet MPI trail muffler.
***Going above 9 lbs of boost will require the 4th injector kit & free flowing muffler*** - 10 lbs of boost with the .066" thick gasket is 220-225 hp.
- 12 lbs of boost with the .092" thick gasket is 240-245 hp.
- 14 lbs of boost with the .092" thick gasket is 260 hp.
***The stock turbocharger unit that MPI uses will not support more than 14 lbs of boost at sea level, I have billet intake wheels and also complete drop-in turbo upgrades available for those looking for more as well***
A new product coming is a Power Commander V PTI that runs the stock injectors as well as a 4th injector for those looking to upgrade and get plenty of fuel to the motor.

Yes, you can add a stutter with the Ignition Module. The stutter must be used wisely as it can be hard on valve train & also the muffler if used for too long of periods of time. I can walk you through how to set it all up, etc or sell as a complete package also.
