ok, we need some clarification on this....please lets have a nice discussion.
Forget what you read on Facebook or fake news sites.

Someone here must live near there??

AS far as I am concerned, there are a few facts....
-pipepline will follow existing gas line
-this is not on burial ground or reserve
-all studies have been done, no laws broken.....

I would like to know as well. In this age of so much info you would think that things would be more black and white.

surprised no one lives near there.....

I am on the other side of the state. Not to say nobody lives there, but it's pretty darn desolate. It is wide open prairie land down that direction. AND NEAR THE RESERVATION, not on it.

This whole thing is crazy as the stories coming from this are almost as bad as those created during the election. I don't know what to believe. Other than, the companies would not have built this pipeline to near 90% completion, next to an existing pipeline only to leave an agreement unsigned at the last minute. It doesn't work that way.

And since they are on private property with their construction now, all that can happen is the protesters get in the way in waves and get arrested. As they have no right being on that property. Anyone coming in from New York or California that has no skin in the game should just go home.

Hell they just got a foot of snow dumped on them yesterday and today. You can bet those greenies from California will be heading home now. Their Patagonia is a bit thin.

It just needs to end with no further violence and allow the law enforcement to go home safe.

The biggest thing I don't get is that folks are making it sound like there wasn't an environmental impact study done- there always has to be one in order for a large construction project. I'm all for being good to the environment and stuff but this has gotten out of hand. If they can protest without causing damage- great, but if they are causing damage and impeding people trying to travel or carry on everyday life that's no good. MLK and the Freedom riders didn't protest like this...

I don't think all the idiots (greenies and protesters) from everywhere but ND/MN understand what the oil boom has done to day-to-day living along the railway. Obviously it has slowed with the lower gas prices. But the use of pipelines allows towns like Fargo/Moorhead to actually be productive. You have no idea what the impact a train can have on a split community with track running through them.

Fargo/Moorhead is well over 100,000 people an has the BNSF railway running through the center of it. As soon as the oil started flowing, we saw no less than a loaded or empty oil train every 15-20 minutes. It literally shut traffic down for most of Moorhead, and a majority of downtown Fargo.

The cost of the pipeline can be easily justified when compared to rail. But rail is the only real option without it. You can bet one wealthy rail baron has his finger on all these protesters and pushing every button he can to maintain that rail business. It has impacted every community in ND and Western MN.

So just like a crazy election, there is way more going on here than upset natives, as they are probably the most peaceful of the bunch until they get agitated either by their own causes, or something stirred up by someone with way more skin in the game than potential polluted water. (did I mention a train every 15 minutes?)

If I was in charge of that construction project I would be pissed. That means no work for me and potentially lost money along with all the employees.
