I started out the day to remove the center shock so I could send it off to Star for rebuild and was having a real hard time getting the top bolt loose. I don't wrench much... So I pulled the skid out. Way better and much easier. I can tell the kit install will be a breeze with the skid out. I don't look forward to squeezing the skid back in when done, but I'm sure I'll get it. Any threads for skid install on an XTX would be appreciated. I searched and didn't find much.

Not hard at all to put back in. Just use a strap to compress the skid and it goes right back in. Use the strap to compress more or less to align the rear bolt holes up. This also works to get the shocks back in and on.

Robert called me today and my shock is already rebuilt and revalved. The XTX suspension kit and shock are being mailed out right away. So, depending on USPS, should have them Saturday or early next week. Just in time for snow :jump:

Put the kit together yesterday. Install was easy when following instructions provided by Star. Putting the skid back in was a challenge, never done that before. Ended up putting the front bolts in first, leaving the torsion springs loose the bolting up the rear, my chain fall was a necessity. I think I could swap it again in a fraction of the time. Robert recommends a stiff center spring, the torsion spring set to soft in most occasions and a flat front suspension setting keeping it as low as possible. Hope it works great!

Thats awesome. Im chomping at the bit to order the kit, but still trying to convince the wife......never easy to do when it comes to snowmobile stuff. Hopefully be ordering it soon!
Keep us posted on the ride

Sent my friends shocks in for a revalve and rebuild plus the suspension kit. Should be getting the shocks today , hope to get everything back before Christmas. My buddy is coming from a Rage to the Nytro so I hope this helps it handle better then stock . I think Robert is doing the sport valve rebuild along with the shock sleeve. If I had a XTX I know this would be one of the first things done to it. Nobody has said they don't like it so it seems like money well spent.

Taking my first trip to the UP next Thursday, I'll give you my report when back.

;)! Please do...still havent pulled the trigger, but really wanting to soon!

Was a much more comfortable setup but first ride was too soft in front end. Tightened up an was much better. Still some work to do to dial it in. I may call Star to get some suggestions. I'll let you know after the next ride.

Any more input from others that installed this kit? I purchased the stiffer center spring along with his rebuild, revalve and shortened shaft for the center shock. I was hoping for better cornering. Was very tippy and not as good as last year. I am unsure about preload. So, to get better cornering, I added spring preload to the front shocks and removed it from the center shock from suggestion of the guys I was riding with. Even after that, it seemed better but not as good as I was hoping. It was still tippy at times. I tried to call Robert but they didn't pick up. I'll try after the holidays. Anyone worked with Schmidt Bros after the Star upgrade? They really aren't far from me and may be an option to get it dialed in.

I think Robert calls for lots of preload on the front skid shock and very little on the ski shocks. I am not totally sure as I haven't received the kit yet, should be here tomorrow if not it will be after Christmas. I think there business hours are from 8am to 3 pm eastern time.
