Finally installed my skid back into my XTX last night.
I had 4" of permanent sag before...aka push down on bumper and she stuck down 4".
Now when I push on the bumper it actually feels like suspension. And I only have about 1" of sag, which is fine.
Sitting on the sled and bouncing it in the shop, it feels nice and plush for the 1st 3-4" and then gets pretty stiff. Cant wait to ride on it and really see how it performs!

I have had my star kit installed for 2 months now but haven't put the skid back in since I'm waiting to get my full hindle kit. But anyway it says to have the track tension tight (stock specs) and usually I run my track as loose as possible to help with slider wear. What did you guys all do that have installed this kit, tighten your track right up to the stock specs, or leave it loose like before?

I always keep my track in OEM spec.
I have added wheels to prevent my hydax issues.
This is how I will be running mine once she snows out.

Does anyone have a quick and dirty way to check track tension? I know the manual says to apply a force of XX lbs in the middle and measure deflection, but is there a simpler rule that people have found, like, with the sled off the track (hanging from the rear bumper) you can fit two fingers between the track and hyfax? that's one that I know some people use with other brands, not sure if it would be applicable to Yamaha as I've heard they run their tracks tighter from the factory.

Quick, clean and expensive.

have you had a chance to run it yet?
I talked to hygear today about their center shock kits and asked if they played well with the star suspension kit. They said they didn't know, they had done a custom Axis for one but had not heard back on it.

Picked it up and here's what Russ told me, he doesn't like the front arm linkage elimination the stock set up works as a rising rate Star doesn't work that way, the rear doesn't change the geometry at all its just full transfer at all time but he likes set up/idea of it. Im not saying it doesn't work nore did I get a chance to ride it yet just letting everyone know what I was told. Need snow so I can test it and give more details.

Don't know who you talked to but I was dealing with Russ and I think mine was the first they've done.(Star kit)
So far 485 miles on this set up and I think this is as good as xtx will perform (handle) with stock skid. It eats up studder bumps really good, but bottoms out on the bigger bumps at times. A stiffer revalve should take care most of that.

I install the kit starsuspension on my apex xtx 2011
shock front with shortcut shim inside and all ReValver
rear shock ReValver only for my weight
very satisfied with the best travel comfort
much less friction on the slides with this kit
the same result as a nytro xtx

I have been able to put some miles on my star suspension and have to say my XTX has never been better. Along with the kit and rear shocks revalved (with the coller) I added an OFT relocator. Back suspension now eats bumps with no kick back and way better transfer and the sled corners with minimal inside ski lift. I think the relocator helps but backing off the preload in my front shocks made a huge difference. I will be sending my front shocks to star this summer (I only sent rear this fall) so cornering should be even better next winter with revalve. I really believe having Robert rebuild and revalve shocks and his set up instructions are key to getting the best out of the kit...IMHO $$ well spent.

i have actually put a few miles on mine now, transfer is awesome. ltrails at the cottage are s**t right now so bump testing has been done.... works very well. not sure if anyone else has noticed this but, i find it turns better now kinda like the pivot point has been moved forward quite a bit.
ps....glad all the issues on this thread got straightened out. THANKS!!!
