I hate to say this but if I was to buy a new sled I would buy the new REV. One was setting right next to the new Nytro and I just can't stomach the looks of the Nytro. It's just plain Ugly IMHO
Then I lifted both, front and rear and boy is that REV light. I would love to try it on the trails.

Just remember light does not necessarily mean better :ORC
While the looks of the new sleds are drastically different they do grow on you after a bit. My dealer has a 40th edition MTX I like that sled more every time I walk in the place.

- None, looking now!
I agree. Lighter means more fragile to me. I would be scared to really ride that sled.

Probably be a decent sled once they can keep the fluids in it.

yea...I think it's ugly for sure...but it will grow on us..
I did the same thing and came away feeling the same as you dan...
but I do really feel ski-doo will have some growning pains with this first year machine..
and I can just about guarantee yamaha will be lighter next year in response...

I wouldn't buy an anvil from ski-doo!!! Besides, knowing it already has a few recalls, you would still go and buy one?!?!?!? If you saw two cars sitting next to eachother, both are new models, are you going to buy the one that has already had recalls and the manufacturer is pushing back your delivery date? Not only that, I don't know about most of you guys, but I hate picking up my sled!!! So why are some people getting hard ons cause the XP's are easy to pick up?!?!?!? I'm confused and I don't think I should be!!!

You guys all can say what you want about weight, but I think the weight thing is over. I think the bulk of snowmobilers are more concerned about quality and durability now.

I think that stealth look is so dated. I do like its lite weight but I am 250 pounds with no gear and I wonder how it would hold up to me throwing it around.

And the REV is better looking than the Nytro?

No offense, but if people are carving the mountains with a "Heavy" Apex, I think the much lighter FX Nytro will be a hit. Yamaha sold me on one once I rode it.

At least I won't have to change rings and have rebuilds on my fx nytro like skidoos do. I will take the extra weight when it comes to better fit and finish.
Good job yamaha I am sold.

funny thing is every doo'er I talk to about the engine woes staunchly defends and claims they or someone they knows is racking up the miles on the doo's...I mean I know some of you are from the yellow camp of discontent...but man doo they defend the doo..

Time will tell if the XP is a success. Hopefully they applied past experience with current technologies (Like strength evaluation through FEA analysis) it could be better than expected. That being said, I was less than impressed with the prototypes I saw. I also agreed with what somebody else said...with the current economy and gas prices, I can't afford to be broken down on the trail wasting money. No matter how light a sled is, if it is broke down, it is broke down.

I tend to agree.
I think most people want a sled that runs all the time not just some of it.
For what these sleds cost now, I cant say I dont feel the same way.
These issues should all be things of the past now here in 2007 with sled costing 11K+.
At least the DOO will be light when you have to lift it into the back of a pickup to get it to the dealer right?
Maybe at 399lbs. 2 guys will be able to Doo it.

Who watched the Ski doo XP video ?
I laughed my #*$&@ off
The way they set up the sleds for the snowcross I thought the cat was going to tip over at 5mph. I know my RTX can do the stutters better than that christ ! I like the lake race at least the RTX took second in 600 feet . I would like to see 1/4 mile race .
And no other sled could double that jump me !
