Just wondering....all you SC and turbo guys....what kind of radar speeds are you seeing on apexs,rxs or whatever...and what length of runs and conditions of tracks....

Is it true a SC or turbo should radar 130+ in 1500ft?.....or is there no way?...what would they radar at on long hauls?..

I know alot of turbo and SC guys are mountain riders,but i know alot more flatlanders got them this past season,so id like to hear more about radar speeds from you guys.

Dan was told trail safe SC and Bender turbo ran 117 or 122 at North Bay not sure which one ran what. Not worth the money if you ask me. Now a Alpine turbo ran 146 in trial form too so I am told.

Puddy - My point is that you do not need to run race fuel with these setups I have talked about, otherwise the sleds would have blown by now. I have temp gauges on my sled also and the motor never ran above 180 degrees during any trail riding. I prefer the sc for trail riding because you dont share oil with the motor and I dont have to use a smaller gas tank. If you want to build a race sled than maybe the front mount turbo would be the way to go for max hp.

stan...i think if you want to hold it to the bar for long long hauls over and over you WILL HAVE to be adding race fuel and/or head spacer,pistons,ect...offcourse if you have the proper guages you should be able to get off the throttle before any issues..

I think you gotta rememeber this is a MOD and if you want to do some serious long haul running you gotta be safe with fuel....I think most guys trail riding with small bursts of WOT of 3000 feet or less should be able to run the spacer and pump fuel no probs...

But those days you know your going out long haulin and radaring you can add some good gas i guess..

Im still not sure where to go or what to do....i think turbo will end up with MOST TOP END SPEED for all out radaring..but i just dont like the turbo for trail riding as the heat is major!...the SC is completetly removable for resale,lighter overall and just alot simpler overall...stock exhaust is nice too.

then the following season,switch the two puleys to make 10lbs...add a head spacer,and get it closer to 230-240hp and see more gains....And see what the inside of pistons look like .

STAN,you should PM ' TWIN TURBO '..he is an engine builder and has alot of time in on the SC..he will tell you some things yu might want to hear..

If my summer goes well,i will be buying one as long as i can afford it!.LOL

I did what you said when I got my kit on my RX-1 mtn in Dec. I ran it a 5 lbs boost using 91 to dial in the jetting but, had the clutch settings suggested by MPI for my sled on 10 lbs boost. Once the jetting was dialed in, I switched the pulleys.

I also have a short/grainy video clip of it (see link below) vs. an 800 Summit Rev running across a lake with about 4" of loose snow at an elevation of 8500'. Keep in mind the sled is running 5 lbs boost clutched for 10 lbs, I weigh 285 lbs with gear (including my backpack with survival gear) and I am turning a 15" wide 162" x 2" camo track. I don't remember what my dream meter was reading and didn't have a radar or GPS to clock my top speed.

I have 2000 miles of MPI supercharged Apex fun. I have 1000 miles at 5 psi and 1000 miles with the 7psi pulley spinning higher RPM and making 10 lbs boost on a pro comp liquid filled calibrated gauge. So saft to say 9 lbs at least. 91 Octane fun ONLY I have run 100 LL once or twice when I could only get 87 octane and had it in the drums at the cottage. That out of the way I ride Haliburton area tight trails and also have a place in Northern Ontario, just soutside of Elk Lake, in the New Liskard area. Anyone who knows the area knows the wide open fast trails 100 mph plus is no problem up there 90% of the time. I have ridden a split of about 50 50 between the tight stuff and the north stuff most of the north stuff being on 10 lbs boost. I have not come across one sled yet peroid that would run down my apex at all in trail form. Our Mach Z 1000 was turning 122 in 2000' the same day I run 133 on the gun same distance. There is no comparison in them at all. I totally put 10+ lenghts on anything instantly and Im only running 144 push though studs with tall nuts thats it. It rachets the track so hard you are constantly tightening it because just hauls the mail. Fuel mileage about 100 miles to a tank 50-70 mph running. I am clutched and geard thats it . I run a boost gauge and WB02 sensor and knock box thats all for my mods. I couldn't ask for a better kit company or sled to play on it far exceeded my expectations for a bolt on because it worked flawlesssly from day one. I am 100% happy beleive me if there were a problem I would complain nothing to stop me. Also note this is a bone stock motor no shims no spacers nothing.

Puddy all I can tell you is there is no way that comparable setup sleds with Sc or turbo running on the same boost in the same distance will be that far apart in mph. Either someone is lying about what they are running or someone really doesnt know how to clutch and gear. On top of that who cares what the top speed is at a mile that doesnt tell me that person knows anything about clutching. Look at some speeds of 1000' or 1/4 mile and that will tell ya how good the sled is running.

since i am looking for information on this who do you recommend to make sure these things are handled correctly and do you have a preferecne between the SC and Turbo. if i did choose to go this route i would prefer to purchase a turn key sled all set up ready to go even used from last year. who has or does that??

I have an apex gt with a 136 ripsaw 216 megabites anti ratchet drivers A/f ratio and boost guage. MPI stage one. Two of my buddies has same. All of us had no problems except moisture in plug of efi controller. I run 7psi on pump gas which shows 10 to 11 psi on guage. I feel no bs its 9 psi. I have 1000 miles. The sled rocks. Sled ran 127 on radar in poor conditions geared down. 23/38. In 1000 feet spinning 400 feet geared up 25/38 sled ran 129 on speedo with is about 116 in very poor conditions and 6 above freezing. I feel 24/38 is best all around gearing. Ran out of snow and ice so have to wait for next year to test. Best trail sled period. It handles, will run 130 mph all day and beat any trail sled in drag race even mods....... In 1000 feet on hard packed snow where It kind of hooks ( leaves big rooster tail out back ) it will spank well tuned and moded mack z 1000's by 15 to 20 lengths every time no bull s. So buy this kit. The only one that will be sorry that you bought the MPI supercharger is the competition. About 100 miles to tank of gas.

There ya go Stan doesn't get much more black and white then all that info. I did the MPI install myself Im only 23 years old its not hard turn key first weekend out spanked everything that was around. I will be up on simcoe next year to play with you boys, I was trying to get out with VP Randy a couple weeks ago but we didn't make it. I do have a true 130 MPH plus sled on the gun in 2000' and over 2000 trouble free miles. These things rock.

For just a little more work , you could be running the Mcxpress kit at 17 PSI for 310 horsepower , I'd love to feel that on a shortrack trail sled . Mine is on a mountain sled where your horsepower gets used up real quick.

Im running a MPI stage 2 kit on a 2.5" 162" in the mountains.. it currently still has the stage one settings of 240HP (waiting for the stage 2 pulleys)
the sled works real well.
My buddies 310HP MCXpress needs 150-200ft to catch me, however he is commin hard!
I'll be running the 280HP next year with straight C110 for fuel no motor modifications...
Going sleddin one more time on May 9th in Revelstoke Canada... care to join?

5 psi for $6000? Not worth it IMO. I would get a shim and a knock sensor and run around 10-12 psi on pump 91. I don't have any heat issues since I wrapped the turbo. Race fuel isn't that expensive. 110 is $5 a gallon. Mixed 50/50 with $3 prem and you are paying $40 a tank.

I would go with a Mc-Xpress rear mount. 92 pump fuel is 260 hp very little lag. Once you are going down the trail 0 Lag..... The only problem You will have is keeping tracks on the sled...
