How many miles did you get out of the driveshaft? Just trying to figure out how long they last. Joe

Install new bearing back in brake housing. Put bearing in freezer for a day. Heat up the housing(slightly) where bearing goes. Put a light coat of oil on bearing side your starting in brake housing. Put bearing in FLAT not cocked. Should go in with some light force with bearing driver. If you start it flat I have had them go in with a few light taps with dead blow hammer. I even had one go right in like butter.

thanks for the info. doesn't seem like many miles. I have a 2020 STX Gt and hope this driveshaft bearing thing doesn't bite me. If I put on the BOP saver then I probably void the warranty...good luck with the new parts.Joe5200 but i had a vibration last year which I'm sure this was it so probably 4k when i started to notice it

So true, local dealer near me is worthless. Had enough of his BS and crap service work. Got my sidewinder back after warranty work on the chain case, decided I need to make sure all was good. Glad I took the time, tensioner bolt was tightened 1 1/2 turns in from finger tight and the back side screw for the tensioner was laying in the bottom of the chain case. This was couple of years ago. This year (April) my brother had a leak in the tunnel heat exchanger, he asked me what I would do. I said take it to a dealer that has pride in SERVICE, after a few calls it became clear that Pats Yamaha knew exactly what the problem was and would get it done under warranty. So he drove 10 hours one way from home to have service work done (40 hours total driving to drop off and pick up). He said he made the right choice for sure as they fixed a couple other items as well.Void the warranty? No way. If your dealer tells you this. It’s time for a different dealer

Pats is top notch! And they have parts in stock.. Only a few dealers around my area that I would consider let working on my sled.. Its really gotten bad for service everywhereSo true, local dealer near me is worthless. Had enough of his BS and crap service work. 2021 srx with 6400km. Just pulled it apart it was worn so bad that I had to use a puller to get the rotor off the driveshaft.I get a lot of people that ask me what the easiest method is to determine if the drive shaft has been spinning so I wanted to share my findings. I find that removing the brake rotor and inspecting the backside of the hub is the quickest way to determine if you have an issue. If the shaft has spun, the face of the hub that seats against the bearing inner race will have lips worn on it. If you drag your fingernail across the face and it catches 2 lips/burrs then the shaft has spun. The bigger the lip, the more wear the shaft likely has. Below are some pictures. First picture is a perfect face. Second has slight lip, and the 3rd was removed from a sled with .015 of wear on the shaft.

After 2 season of 1500 -2000 miles per, the shaft, bearing and rotor will show it’s wear.
Let it go further and you may have to cut the shaft off because the rotor won’t slide off the shaft, and it may take out other bearings on the end of the shaft’s other end, inside the chaincase.
Problem is, this is not something that gets checked through dealership yearly season maintenance, because it takes a bit of time to accomplish this check, and at over $100 per hour, well you get the picture. So many just wait for complete failure!

That is very true, yearly check is highly recommended. After 2 season of 1500 -2000 miles per, the shaft, bearing and rotor will show it’s wear.

I just checked my bearing and shaft this weekend, 7000km on my 2020 and shaft is still new, shaft has never spun in bearing, bearing and rotor all look good, But I did install BOP wedge since sled had 0 km on the gauge. Thanks BOP..

The easiest way to tell if your driveshaft has spun. If it's all stock ""IT'S SPUN, OR GOING TO SPIN""!!! No if and's or but's. One of the shityest design's I've ever seen! Bite the bullet and install Travis's drive shaft wedge, problem solved! If your driveshaft is't worm too bad that is! Mine was worn .015 thousands in 5'200 miles so I ordered a complete new driveshaft with drivers and bearing from Partzilla 2 yrs ago. Put it together with Travis's wedge set at 40 lbs. ""PROBLEM SOLVED""!!!

YES you can. Travis posted on another site it would be no problem.I wish somebody would just reply to your question.....
I'm using mine as my shaft is being welded and turned as I type and my rotor has the groove and is going on the shaft again.
