anyone have some good tricks on testing intake leaks and exhaust leaks? thanks also has anyone used a frogskin vent to let fresh air in at intake instead of raising above hood.
For testing intake leaks I have always used the old starter fluid trick. Start the motor and let it idle. Spray the starter fluid on the intake boots and around the area and listen for the engine to speed up. If it doesn't move on.
A propane torch (unlit - just gas) works well for the intake and it is dry. Being able to control the flow and tip will point out the issue with some accuracy. You will get the same revving effect on the motor. My mechanic neighbor has shown me it a few times.
