So you are using the crossfire shock? I wonder where your mounts are. I know my current ones are way off. I think I am going to get a VE tunnel, so i am waiting to modify anything.

I'll get some measurements tomorrow. I got a good ride in today with some jumping and hillclimbing and it's working great.

The best source I've seen so far has been the SnoWest forum classifieds. You should be able to find a brand new or near new skid for $500-700.

Sorry I have decided to keep mine. Shipping to alaska would like 200 bucks or something crazy too!

well I thought I would ask, im not worried about shipping, thats one of the drawbacks of living in a remote alaskan town. But hey, I still have about 2 weeks of riding left before we have to trailer anywere to ride in the mountains

I am a non paying memeber on snowest forum, never really looked there very much because only being able to look at a certian amount of posts before you have to pay kinda turned me off of that site. I guess I look there thanks for lead

You don't have to be a paying member to view the classifieds. I put another 65 miles miles on today and I'm loving it.

Glad the shock worked out. I was pretty baffled by your ratcheting problem, as I am running the 153 absolutely slack. So slack I can feel the track wrap running over the antistabs in rotten corn snow at slow speeds. The only thing that is really different between the 2 skids is the front shock as the setback shouldn't make much difference.
Beeze, that 9.5 dimension is key, and thanks for that also would you mind taking a couple of more dimensions off your M skid? If you can I will try to post all the dimensions on an Autocad drawing for the M, MTX, and the AC skid in the MTX/XTX.
If you measured from the centerline of the drive shaft back to the center line of upper hole in the rear drop bracket, and then where the front hole is in relation to that line. Ultimately, those are the most important dimensions for the suspension to function. After that, its a matter of fitting that set of dimensions to the tunnel. The dimensions I am looking from are on the picture below. You will notice that my dimensions are different but that's because of the MTX having a 7 tooth driver and the M has an 8 tooth (both 3 inch pitch). If you look on the drawing, the bigger drive circle represents the 8 tooth driver. If you used the bigger circle, its pretty easy to see you could move the whole skid forward quite a bit.
What's key to remember is that your driver diameter effects the location of the skid in your tunnel. You can't use the M tunnel dimensions directly on an MTX or XTX. The dimensions for the AC skid in the XTX will be unique, and different from the AC skid in the MTX. Most of my work is on the AC M and MTX but I will use my 10 xtx and figure out how the XF 141 fits into it as well. It will take me a while to get all this onto a drawing, but I am part way there and I'll post them when I am done.

Is it crazy to think a AC XF 141 skid with a 144 Ice Ripper on an 06 - 08 Apex would make a decent homebrew XTX for mostly trail with better off trail abilities?
There is a 141 Float advertised now on SW for $750. Ebay has some interesting options.

If wouldn't get a Float skid for mostly trail riding unless you plan on swapping the Float for a coil over.

Caleb:
Speaking of coil overs, got a line on some Exit skid shocks off an M8 Cat ....
X0 front, X1 back. Any opinion on these vs the 2012 HCR float 2, which has pretty good valving but has the usual float end of stroke harshness.
Don't imagine valving would be too far off, but will definitely have to see what it has for springs....as they may are pretty rider specific.

I would say it depends on the price. I went with the Ohlins because the shock guy is 30 minutes away and has incredible service. If the price is good it may be worth it, their springs are fairly inexpensive.

Anyone with a 2010+ Float skid know the upper wheel diameter and bearing number? I want to order OFT wheels to get ride of the oem plastic junk. Id look myself but I'm out of town for work.

The bearing is the same one that Scott always uses on all of his stuff, I think it is 6025. He was thinking that I would have to alter my axle a little bit to make them work because the older ones used different bearings. My wheels were a 6.5 inch and he just sent me a 7. I was not worried about the quarter inch higher that the track would ride.

Nikolai:
Like hugger says, you gotta use Scott's 7" to replace the stocker 6.5" diameter and the bearing I am using is a 6205.2RSR.C3 (25mm ID) for the stock wheels.
I think OFT is working on a replacement for the AC rail idler wheel too as its the same diameter as the upper rear axle wheel on the Timbersled......not that you'd ever use one!
Maybe Scott can chime in.
