they really blew it on the horsepower, IMO.

But how much horsepower will it take before the insurance company won't insure you? Adding your own HP is probably the way to go, insurance won't know then.

Depends on claims experience... That's the good news. Snowmobiling claims represent so little risk exposure to the average insurance company that insures cars, boats, motorcycles etc...that I pay, at least, practically nothing to insure my '05 with full coverage+.

People resist change & this is a big change!
I applaude yamaha for doing so much in one year. It's a little scary when you make big jumps, but no pain, no gain.

I'll need to sit on one to be reassured myself.

FI was $1,000 and yamaha had said they held back to keep the costs down. This is no surprise. The Ohlins and Fox Float shox options are big add ons too, gee did we expect them for free? When you start adding the extras & figure the actual increase in price, were stll getting a good deal here. Actually it ticked me off SkiDoo raised the bar "price wise" for the MachZ, because now the cats outta the bag, we'll really pay that much to be the fastest.

Generally the Top speed king sleds like the Mach Z are produced in small numbers. Yamaha isn't after that small marketshare.

Overall, I like em, I just hope I can still pull off 300 mile days in Canada without cramping or freezing. My Warrior is much colder than previous Yamahas. These things may be worse in that regard. I may have to buy a new one & keep the Warrior for special rides. We'll see.

Yamaha ;)!

Smowman- YOU COULD NOT HAVE SAID IT ANY BETTER!!

there is more to life then HP
that extra $1500 went towards lighter weight, better handleing, better looks, and a more efficent FI system which also contributes to the 5 extra Hp along with the new crank shaft which is 2.2 pounds lighter

I need to look at the lineup for my wife. She needs to dump her Viper and get something new. I'll need to wait another year. However, she really likes her Viper.

Thanks LooseCannon! ;)!

:rocks: :yam: :4STroke:

Auskins good input!

The more I think about it, I bet the 06 apex will spank the 05 rx 1.

But I'm still gonna look for a used vector and make my own version of a tweeked out light weight turbo mountain sled.
