Throttle problems

When I turn left the motor advances in rpm and then I get a warning across the dash. Looks like the cable has no slack to it. How should the cable be routed, should it go over the centre of the pad on the console or under? Anyone had this problem before would appreciate some help.

Thanks

Did you just recently relocate your cable? add a riser? No sure what the correct routing should be, but keep playing with them and find the best (shortest) route.

Maybe you could move your handlebars a little more forward to gain some slack.

It is brand new, just out the box so to speak. I can see that it is pulled tightly on top of the pad and when I turn left the motor increases in speed then wants to stop (some sort of saftey feature I think). Bars are in good location and the throttle fits perfect. Doesn't seem to be any slack anywhere else. Could someone show a picture of how yours is set up please. Its an 07 Attak.
Thanks.

Maybe this will explain better. If I pull the cable just slightly out the motor races and then stalls. So when it is wrapped over the pad it does the same thing. I can't understand why its happening.

Mine is up at the cabin so dont remember if you can pull that out or not.

Could be that the cable tension is too tight, tripping the TORS.

What you could do is remove the 2 screws on the chrome trim ringthen you can pull half of that ring off, turn counter clockwise on the 1/4 turn fasteners on the painted panel between the bar and guages (two plugs that are a little tricky to unplug).

With that open you can play around with throttle cable(s) routing, and/or you could always add more slack too. Losten the 8?-10 MM nut and turn the barrel end of the cable more in to the bracket.

BTW Apex disassembly instructions can be found in the vendor section under Ulmer Racing, like 2/3 down the first page I think.

also..make sure there is some slack at the "pull" on the throttle body rack....there is an adjustment to creat or remove slack there...the cable should not be taughnt against the pull

I will give that a try. Here is another shot showing how bloody tight it is. There is no slack anywhere so I may have to start pulling things apart.

that seems routed incorrectly to the far side...seems like its going to the left too far...maybe when they did the handwarmer update?

try loosening the throttle block and rotating it forward 360 degrees and pull the cable to the right side of the wires?

I added a 2" riser and relocated the cable to run down the right side bar. Either way I think you need to get down to the adj. nuts just above the throttle bodies. I think you will have to loosen it right off to be able to unhook it from the lever and run it down the right side and not down the middle. Tighten it back up but keep in mind that if your doing it in a warm garage the cable will shrink a little in the cold and could cause it to act up. Mine did that. After setting it up perfect even with the bars turned 100% it acted up out in the cold. One more turn on the adj. nut and it never acted up again.

It is routed incorrectly. The cable does not come up through the handlebar pad and over the top, it comes up underneath the pad and out the side along the handlebar. Take off the pad, there are two velcro strips on the bottom of the pad that will allow the pad to come off, reposition cable correctly and that should solve your problem.

Will give it a try and let you know if this works.
