Near 8900 ?Yes , 8 dn lenght, it keeps me off the rev limiter and keeps rpm 200-300 lower, which makes it pull harder Imo.

Use a 7/16 steel in tip it's only .1g more than 3/8 with thick washer.I tried putting the 3/8 steel and thick washer in the tip but I couldn't get it tight since there wasn't enough threads on the bolt with the thick washer.

With yesterday's cold temps -9F to 7F throughout the day, I was bouncing off the rev limiter with the following setup:
Y/P/Y Primary, Blue Secondary, 6-1 wrap, 46/40 helix, 1" Allen in Heel, 3/8 Aluminum with 1 thin washer in Middle, and 3/8 Steel with 1 Thick washer in Tip. With the cold air and hard pack trails, I was consistently banging off the rev limiter on full throttle pulls. 97 - 98 is the best I can get.
This morning with the temps at about -14 F I decided to add some more tip weight, so I put 7/16 Steel with 1 Thick washer in the Tip. Took it out on the lake to try it....Holy Crap, does it pull like a freight train!!! Brought my RPM's down to 8,800 - 8,900. Still hit 97 - 98, but man does that thing pull now. My only fear is when it warms up to mid-20's what it will do to the RPM's. Hopefully it doesn't get too low.
If I get more time, I may play around with the B/S/B and the stock helix, but really like the way my sled pulls even though can't seem to crack 100.

You running a stock helix murdered137 . I have a 46/40 on mine and was out testing today and it was beating my nytro . Both sleds setup the same with filters and fuel programmer . Was tapping rev limiter a few times though . Pulls good down low but now much on top . Was only getting around 90 . Only 700 miles on sled though . I set mine up like nos pro said too . I inch in the heel and mid empty with a 3/8 steel and thick washer on tip . Wonder if I put some weight in the middle if that will help .

Yes, I am running the stock helix, no fuel programmer yet, I tried that same setup earlier in the week with nothing in the middle, could only get 92 out of it, but it felt very lazy in midrange, didn't have that pop that I like when let off and stab it again, I think leaning it out a bit helps make a few more ponies, I am going to get my Evo stage 2 87 octane flash next week, I'll see how that goes, if it runs a bit rich I might try ulmers header. You running a stock helix murdered137 . My sled at 700 would only hit 88, I was told these motor's are tight till about 1000 mile's but still breaking in to 2000, I got over 2500 on mine, 1600 this year and all I got to say is that it woke up allot. You running a stock helix murdered137 . I do agree with the more miles on the sled, you will free up more power.

Gonna put some weight in the middle then and see if it helps . The 46/40 helix is nice . Middle is empty now . What do you think , is that to much weight in the arm . Might give me a better holeshot too . It's working good now but not much too end though . Nytro beats it in that . Nytro getting 102 top end . Thanks for the help

I am getting a bit better in my numbers. I'm running a MPI trail turbo with machined clutches. My best run with Lonn's stock setup got me 104MPH once, but I struggled to break 95MPH. I watched my RPM go from 8500 down to 79oo and by boost went from 5.5 down to 3 at as I tried to break 95MPH. This past week, I pulled all tip and mid weight out and had better results. I get to 95MPH quickly then climb slowly to 103. Conditions were less than ideal for long pulls as the trail was choppy... I'm still not seeing RPM over 8500 at the top end (usually 8300-8450), but I'll take these results over my original any day. It is very snappy throughout the range up to 85 MPH. 95 MPH still happens as desired, but it starts to take longer to get there then climbs very slowly beyond 95.
I'm not sure if I'm experiencing belt slippage now. I kinda suspect that I am since I heard the belt squeal twice in 500 miles getting back on the gas while it was engine breaking at crawling speeds around icy corners. I think I probably need to get a gates belt.
I'm still not satisfied with the weight setup. Do you think that I still have too much weight even though there is no weight in the tip? Should i try to remove base weight and add tip? Or should I try adding an aluminum bolt to the tip? Not sure if this is the way to go since RPMs are still too low...

Sounds dumb, but add some tip weight as I think you might be slipping the belt.
Do you have any marks towards the top of your primary or midway on your secondary?

Thats what I found out not last weekend but the weekend before. I took weight out to get more rpm and was sliping the belt. No mph and left black rings. Added more weight to the tip and the thing took off but kept the same rpms.....was weird

Sounds like we have more work to do to figure this out. Especially for boosted sleds, we aren't getting everything out of them if we can't make RPMs and hence boost... I'm not one for top end, but I do want it there in the event someone gets cocky... Up to 90MPH, this thing rocks. No one held a candle to my wind as I blew buy this weekend...
