Thunder Products (Big Venom Viper kit) with Heavy Hitters

Have a question on starting point. Going to add an ulmer can and evo stage 2.5 flash, does anyone have a good starting point for the heavy hitters? Thanks 2014 viper ltx se

48.2 Heavy Hitters base – ¾ Allen in heel, 3/8 aluminum in center with 3/8 steel and a thin washer in the tip. Stock primary spring (Blue Silver Blue) with a glide washer on each end of the primary spring. Secondary setup is Midnight Blue spring set at 6-2 with the stock 43° helix. RPM’s should be real close to 9,000-9,100 (this was with an 8DN belt. Many are switching over from the stock 8JP belt to the 8DN on the Viper)

Thanks NOS-PRO. I do have 8DN, Also put thunder products secondary belt adjuster on. I see you have the spring in 6-2 instead of 6-1? Also forgot to add I'm doing air box mod..

6-2 is good for all around riding, trail and off-trail.

If you are strictly trail, you can do 6-1...it will give you a touch more top end and quicker shifting.

This needs to be brought back to the front . Lots of good information. I’m playing with mine also now . Installed the newer orange secondary spring and it helps . It pulls better with orange secondary at 3-3 also . Terry gave me all the advice . Good man that terry

Should we all be updating to this new orange spring now?

Seems it's better than what the original kit offered?

At the end of last season i was baging the limiter off the line. Last ride of the season with loose conditions. I was at 3-3 with the the 3/4- aluminium- steel with small washer. I added a small washer to the center. Today i was hitting 9268 early on some short runs. Very loose conditions. Any advise on changes or leaving it some packed trails where it hooks? Standard 2014 SR, #180, mostly trails. Running OSP adjuster with 8dn.

Thanks man!

I would if I was you . Works better . It came out after that big venom kit also . Quicker shifting also .

Exactly what rx1 fern said.... the spring works much better and the orange secondary spring came out after the Big Venom kit.

Just ordered the orange spring from Lonn this morning. Said due to anchor points he recommends running the helix on position 3:3. I was running 6:1 wrap with midnight blue spring from original kit.

Looking forward to seeing the improvements in performance. Cost was ~$34 for orange spring.

Is there any special set on the weight if someone is using a Dayco 825?

Dayco is a softer belt, it will most likely be 100-200 rpms lower than running the stock 8JP belt

So just run the way Lonn sends them ?
3/4 Allen, 3/8 aluminum and 3/8 steel with thin washer

Run that setup first and check rpms. Might have to take out thin washer in tip if it drops too much. These sleds make good power down to 8700 but it is a little more responsive at 9000 for trail riding.

I changed the Blue Secondary Spring out for the new Orange Spring. I was running at 9050 RPM with the Blue secondary, so pretty spot on. Now with the Orange I am banging off the Rev Limiter. I then put some TP 14.8 primary rollers in to see if that would bring my RPM's down a bit. Still banging off the Rev Limiter. When I go wide open throttle I feel it misfire and it brings my RPM's quickly down to 8500 or so but then quickly rise back up and misfire again. Do I add more weight to middle or the tip? My current set up is: 1" Allen in Heel, 3/8 Aluminum with 1 thin washer in Middle, and 7/16 Steel with 1 thick washer and 1 thin washer in Tip.

I have airbox, header, and can mods.

Add more weight to middle and see what happens. I was banging off limiter also today an added weight to middle an end amd now only once i think it hit after that. I hav k@n intake and exhaust an custom pc5 map. Middle is 3/8 steel with one skiny washer an end is 7/16 steel with 2 skinny washers. Pulls hard now im guna leav it.
