Thundercat Hp DynoTech

Sensors cannot adjust for pre-ignition. Lots of good reading. Well worth the annual subscription.

A sensor will provide data so the ECU can adjust for pre-ignition. That's what the DCS technology was on the 02 SRX and 04 Vipers.

same motor...same ecu...same exhaust......maybe the 204 with the leaner afr was the pre production and the new is the production model...

My dealer told me that Cat opted to use there own ECU versus the Yamaha ECU so I'm not so sure that they are indeed the same ECU.

Actually not true. Detonation yes, Pre-ignition no. Hence Jim's recommendation of a wideband A/F especially with tunes and today's increased use of ethanol. You can have pre-ignition without detonation which can be more severe. Something the knock sensors won't pick up.

Guys, if you want all the facts, please support DynoTech and sign up for a subscription. Jim is a great guy and deserves our support for all the info he has given out all these years. He claims early production sled with 0 miles! If that's the case, imagine what that sled will make broken in!

With that kind of thinking then why are you not a VIP on this site? Support the site that provides you the avenue to post this news?

It does not detect bad fuel, it detects detonation and makes tune changes to prevent it and safe guard the motor. Bad fuel or not enough octane can cause detonation as well as a number of other things. I think Ethanol would run leaner and make less power however you could probably run a little more boost then to gain some power over all? Was someone trying to beat the 204??

It could just be the difference between summer and winter blend fuel. I know in my truck it's a big difference mpg wise.

What are you guys smoking, this should not even be a thread anyone with common sense will know this is BS!!!

video is the real deal...and power variances are at the hands of fuel...ait's and the dyno operator...period...its not an end all be all...its a tuning tool and a guide....whether you are green or blue...you will love your yamaha engine..

not sure whats so fake. I talked to a Yamaha Source and the 204 hp number was the mid of 3 different runs. There were higher numbers close to 210 .. but that was a prepro... so I am not supersized on the the numbers being shown.

It was meant towards marty f, I know its the real deal.;)

Guys don't set yourselves up for a disappointment! Production and pre-production vary. Look at the big difference between 2011 pre-production Apex and production. Sides you don't race dyno's you use them to tune! What it does on the snow is the real deal everything else is bench racing!
