Too much negativity.

Hmm, interesting, Yamaha is teamed with Cat for now its all Yamaha sleds are and have to offer other than the few Jap sleds still being produced (STILL HOPE), if they ever go it alone again and come out with there own cutting edge chassis to house the winder engine kinda sounds like alot of you Yami/ Cat lovers will be staying with Cat, also I feel its the last year for the 1049, the Viper will have the 998 N/A version of the winder engine next year.

Coincidentally, I built myself a Yamacat back in the 70’s. Cat Panther and a Yamaha 433 motor out of a Roloflex sled.

Now about 45 years later I own a factory Yamacat which is light years ahead of your old Apex in too many ways to mention! Karma baby!

You should have kept the panther :)

The Doo is boring, can't get the rear to squat and pivot through the corners, the front end not even close to the pro cross. I feel like I'm going to fall over the windshield, do a header, and get run over.

The Polaris, well if you don't mind waiting for the corner to straighten out then it's not to bad. And hope there's no big holes in the trail.

They were easy sleds to work on and needed lots of care. Center seals, carb updates, metal track components with many rivets, chaincase top bearing(eccentric) etc etc. Got to say, there were so many brands and models back then, it was a grand Time for snowmobilers.

there was a time when if you showed up to a drag race and had a roloflex you broke a lot of hearts. Back then the combination of Yamaha motor and aluminum chassis was hard to beat.

Been watching some cross country racing this year and cat is winning 80 percent of the time. Couple weeks ago the heavy outdated procross took the top 5 places in the open class best part the top 3 were won on the zr7000 might have been top 5, this is against the latest 600.
This has been going on for YEARS. This old outdated pro cross heavy beast!!! Lol

I have a book listing all the different brands from the 60's through to late 70's I think there was close to a hundred different brands, only 4 survived well maybe 3 1/2, if you owned a snowmobile in the 70's you had black hand syndrome.

Yes, way to many to remember them all. Yes to my always having dirty hands because I was always wrenching, and I loved it.
Rupp
Dolphin
Kawasaki
Sachs
Chaparral
Alouette
Just to name a few!

No negatives here...

Outdated well they have been winning , maybe you can make a better sled suspension wise, heavy depends on how you ride, lakes fast,, planted, you want heavy to keep her steady, try a two stroke jittery at high speed, rough trails 2 stroke. Some people are never satisfied!!

forgot to mention the state of the art slide suspension , while all others were riding on bogie wheels !
69 Panther was my first ride .
When Cat went out of business , that opened the door , and have been a Yamaha guy since .

I believe it was a Panther Cat offered when they re entered the sled world in the early 80's, they also changed their name from arctic Cat to Arctco in 82, then back to arctic Cat in 96.
