Hey guys, I dont have the sled apart yet, getting a parts order together from Royal Distributing. But my question is;

DO the phazer's have a 16 tooth spline on the end of the jack shaft like the apex's/rx1's??

I want to go to a 20T top gear in the wifes RTX(more suited to her driving)but royal has a listing for Yamaha HYVO gears but no mention if they will fit on the Phazer??!! i called and the tech guy had no clue...he was reading what i was... we bought the phazer in April and i have not taken it apart yet.

Allen Ulmer told me that the 3 and 4 cylinders used a different gear.

Hey Sherlock, sometimes royal has parts that are not listed in the catalogs that we get, they have a few in the stores. I will be driving by one tomorrow and stopping to get some stuff. I can see if I can get a part number for you if you would like...

Hye yamahas... yes... i called one of the ontario locations.. not sure which... but their listings dont list phazers... I think i will email ULMER... just with variety pack of apex parts, it would be nice to know!...

I'll try to get the info for you. If I don't post back just send me a pm to remind me.

The Phazer has a smaller diameter jackshaft than the Apex/RX-1/Vector/Nytro models. The Phazer uses a 15 spline that is about 1.050" OD and the other models use a 16 spline that is about 1.1875" OD. The Phazer gears are also narrower (0.540") versus the other models (0.655").

It does look as though the spline in the Phazer is the same as what was used in the SRX/Viper/SXr hyvo chain category, but I haven't checked this out to be certain.

Hey Sherlock! The Phazer GT models comes with a 20T top gear. Why don't you just get one of those? According to my sorces the Phazer sled's came with a 17,18,or 20t top gear depending on the model. Hope this helps.

most the Phazer parts lists list 17,18,19, and 20t as optional gears. Same chain for all those options. Why the 20t though, unless its got boost or you plan on 1/2 mile + speed runs the stock 18t is more than enough gear.

the reason i was looking at royal was the price... very good quality HYVO gears for $36.99 dealer here wants almost $80 with tax...

I am very aware of the gearing, the RTX models came with the 18T instead of the 20T the regular phazer have... same with my apex's, my RTX is geared 2 teeth lower on top... in fact i think all the RTX models come with lower gearing... part of the "RTX" package... reasons i want to change!? the trails we drive are big... and last year i found(even the wife) we were running out of gear... we routinely will cruise at the 70-80MPH and the little phazer needed just a wee bit more. and its nice to be able to drop some RPM's at cruise to get better milleage. so for a few reasons i want to change...
