Had my first shakedown run today after pulling the skid.
Just wondering what the track tension should be?
Up on the stand, I've got 5/8" slack sitting there. Is that ok?

he means his sags abot 1.5" in the middle between the sliders and the clips. he also runs extrovert drivers so he can run his track looser.
my old rx has about 1/2" of sag running extroverts. stock drivers i had to run it tight as it tended to ratchet.
the new xtx is not home yet.

1.5"??
Like I said, mine only has 5/8" sag.
Is that about right in a stock set up?

if it is not ratcheting under hard acceleration, yes it is fine. if not tighten it untill it stops is usually the rule of thumb.

I run 1-1 1/4" free sag on the Apex (regular drivers)
And 1.5-1.75" free sag on the Vector (anti-slip drivers)
I don't know why the F^ck Yamaha recommends such tight track tension. Must be part of their market ploy to sell hyfax.

I run about 1 1/2 " free sag on my Apex with standard drivers. I have never ratcheted but I had some exhaust system damage last year when I let it get looser than that back when I had a studded track.

I tried the factory spec. once and like many other guys I found that to be much too tight IMO.

John, try running it loser. 5/8th's to me is still too tight.
Like I told you before, mine is almost at 1 1/2"'s of free hanging sag and I get zero ratcheting.
Maybe the LTX's are different and need to be a little tighter, I don't know, but I would at least take your's to a full inch and see what happens?

Go to 1 1/4" with 20 lbs. & cold track. Too loose & you may cause problems & could slow down. This has been proven over & over especially by people like Mike Knapp. Studs hitting things like the tunnel is NOT good & for what gain? Running looser will not stop hyfax wear or gain speed. Measuring sag is an inaccurate way to measure. Some sort of consistant force on track is only true way. If track is cold it will sag less than when warm. I was able to prove this to friends on a lake. We both lost 1 to 2 mph (on speedo) when run loose. We both tightened & loosened tracks 4 TIMES. Every run was faster with 1 1/8". Needless to say we all run that measurement now.

Do u recommend the same for the 128" and 136"?

I agree with Steve. I have seen top end loss with a loose track as well. It is very easy to run the track loose enough so that it balloons and rubs on the top of the tunnel/protectors at speed. I would bet that some you guys running 1.25" + of free sag might find some burnout marks inside your tunnel if you look closely
