Stopped by my nearest dealer and pretty much had every belt off of the hooks to compare to a 8JP belt. Found a belt that is 1.400 width and smidged shorter than the 8JP. It's on now and so far working really good. Will find out this weekend! With this belt if everything works, I can run this belt for thousands of miles or it grenades....which hopefully doesn't happen. Only clue is it's an Arctic Cat belt.

Yes, I have been using the 8DN belt and getting great results with it....but I, along with a couple guys here believe this is an all day 100mph sled. My clutch shows a nice belt mark just under a 1/4 inch. (you can see where my marker has been removed)

From some I have seen, the belt isn't anywhere near where mine is running. This is on most of the Vipers I happened to get a chance to look at. Mostly what I see is 3/8-7/16 of an inch which is horrible.

Mine with the 8dn equivelant runs right to the top. Of course you know that I put super stiff primary spring and heavier weights in mine. Not enough primary force or too much secondary force keeps belt from full shift out. 1/4 longer 8dn should go full shift out.

Right on bud

That's how mine looked , now I'm right to the top with some machining from Schmidt Bros ! ;)!

Belt

What did you notice in RPM and speed when you switched to the new belt and had SB do some machine work?

Does SB have a cluthc kit for Vipers? If so, do they recommend the 8DN too?

Thanks, looking to snow check a 2015 and have been concerned about this belt and clutch.

09, what did they machine?

Yes SB has clutch kits and air box mods and is working on other things and no he didn't recommend the 8dn he's not even working to get that to work .comes out of the hole at 8800 then climbs to 9000 on top end !

Nos-pro :

What he does to the primary is machines clutch sheaves ( puts in over drive ) so the clutch will close more and the secondary we have been just machining the helix so it will open all the way so we can get full shift on both clutches , we got rain here so the road I've been testing on is now dirt but the best top end I seen was 106 mph with out rehearing this thing I think that's about all I can get out of it

Allen has some pretty good numbers on his post but I'm thinking the higher speeds are moded engines !

Good to know....

I ask this of you as time goes on....watch the color of your clutches with the 8JP and let me know. If SB does this to the clutches and it doesn't slip....it's worth it!

Well, the Arctic Cat belt idea went sour as all it did was kill rpm, squeal no matter how I adjusted and just plain didn't work.

Not saying any one of the things you guys are looking into "could " be the problem as to not getting a full shift-out as seen on the primary clutch but in some cases (with conditions in mind) your sleds gearing can not let full shift occur..... Just tring to help. There are so many things to check for this problem before jumping to different belts.
Rich.

Yes, agree...but I wanted to try it.
With this, Stingray came up with an idea and I tested this weekend with great results! Check my XTX ride and review post.
