TTs sled - Rapex and some other projects

Here is a little update on the tunnel build. I have made a "new" rear heat exchanger. It is made out of 2 tunnel heat exchangers from a salvaged Ski-doo GT (S-2000 chassie I belive)

The heat exchangers were a PITA to get out of the Ski-Doo chassie. After that they have been blasted, cut into desired meassurements and welded.

I am very happy with the result. The "new" heat exchangers is same sizes as the extension of the tunnel

Windshield is installed on the Turbo hood. I am still :o| that I didn't get the one I ordered. But "The old lady" is starting to look like a sled again :-o

I have started to work on a lightbar setup for the PIAA lights. But I still need to install the Tial BOV before I deside on the final design.

The Tial is at the moment on summer vacation in Rxriders' turbogarage :-o :-o - LOL

But I am pretty sure the setup will be something like this - this will make the most room/space for the BOV, chargetube, fuellines etc. when lightbar is bolted to the Delta-frame.

The fuel tank cleaned (outside and inside) and ready for installment. I even polished it - polishing is a sickness -LOL

Both the fuel return line and fuel pickup line are new - the old ones I had installed with the RX-1 fuel tank were to short.

To get the main/big apex side panels to fit you have to mod./cut off part of aluminium on the footweel supports (both on the left and right side)

The lightbar mockup is done. It still needs some welding, grinding and polishing before done.

First of the aluminium tubes and bar is made a little "over-sized" This was done incase of a roll over on the hill.

The bolts needed to "fill" the alu.tubes had threads that didn't match the crush nuts threads installed in the Delta-frame. First pic shows a bolt with threads needed to fit the D-frame and bolt needed to "fill" the alu.tubes - definitely not a match - LOL

I had to re-size the bolts on the lathe and re-threaded them to fit both the alu.tubes and the D-frame:

It will not be too bad when welded, grinded and polished. It looks like I will have plenty of space for the big Tial Q bov behind the lightbar setup ;)!

Hey..I thought you were about to buy an Apex? LOL...

your sled is gettin to look REAL bad-#*$&@....

Let me know how bright those light are...I've been thinking of getting those for years, but as we both know, the first three months of the season is completely dark over here...so... :o|

Thanks ;)!

The money went to a new caravan (Solifer 630) - so an apex is on the wishlist at the momenet. Atleast I have the apex turbo kit ready for it - LOL

So I have to be in the "apex wannabe club" for the moment - LOL

I will let you know how the PIAA lights works out ;)!

A little update:

Fuel return line/hose re-routed underneath the battery tray. Installed with 2 rubber clamps. The Battery tray had to be grinded to make room from the clamps and fuel return line. No chance of a fuel leak.

I have installed a extra fuel filter in the fuel hose outside the fuel tank. Installed where it is easy to change during service. The filter is a Honda filter that that is perfect for 10mm ID hoses. I bought it from MCX. I have the part number if anyone need it.

Fuel hose/line is bolted to the D-fram with 2 clamps with rubber. No chance of a fuel leak.

The Vortech bypass valve is removed and a new Tial Q bov with a 2 psi (pink) spring is installed. I bought it from Ted Jannetty - thanks for the help getting that new -2psi spring Ted- outstanding customer service once again ;)!

I was a little worried that the BIG Tial Q wouldn't fit - but it fit PERFECT behind the homemade PIAA light support bracket :jump:

Rubber "lashes" (not sure if it is the correct word) installed for the turbo hood. They are Yamaha ones for the old Phazer/Venture 480

Getting ready to install the new Boss seat. I can't belive how light it is compared to the Yamaha seat :jump:

I still have to "clean up" some of the eletrical wires before giving the apex plastic a paint job.

After that I will start the work on my homemade VE tunnel again.

I have been thinking REALLY hard on getting a new rear suspension (Timbersled, Kmod gen 2 or the Baker "M-10").

Come on OBR give me a good price on yours :tg:

This sled is nuts! I really like the seat. Nice work on this build! Also, how do you like those lights?
Thanks, Fergdog93

Thanks ;)!

I have not tried the PIAA lights yet. I will give some feedback during the winter. There is plenty of mountain riders that use them - bright and durable - time will tell - LOL

Working on the turbo hood - and a final light bar setup for the PIAA lights
