I removed my tunnel braces and snow flap on my 08 rtx this weekend to polish the tunnel. Do they take a special rivet or can I just put any rivet in there? And what size are they?
And btw I dont know how 6 hours is enough time to polish your tunnel, it took me probably 12+ hours to sand, buff, polish and seal the SOB. And it still didn't come as good as i would have liked. What a pain in the arse haha

Thanks. Are u serious, 12 for your belt cover? And yeah probably more then 12 for my tunnel, probably could have spent more. It has a good shine but not a mirror like I was looking for. But it was pretty dull when I started so I guess I'm happy.........I'm done polishing

I like to use nuts and bolts to hold the flap on so I can take it off and re-install it with ease. But I'm a little weird so that's just me

Actually I was thinking the same thing for the flap haha, does anybody know if the rivets come with black heads? Or are they available with black heads?

Yeah if you follow the link to OTF they have black large head studs.
I wouldn't even begin to guess how many hours I have tied up in polishing, once I got it figured out it is easier but still take a lot of work, and really you could shave in mine. One of my friends asked me where I had it chrome plated, out on the trail lots of people asked the same, upkeep isn't all that bad but you HAVE to stay on top of it and I wash my machine after every ride and dry it ( use a leaf blower )

I drilled out the rivets when I took it off and replaced them with some black hardware I found at a local store. Be sure to use a lock nut since a regular nut will shake itself loose.
