i bought myself an 05 yamaha vector and im not sure what to expect from it. it has a MC express turbo rated at 205HP at 15 pounds of boost. im running a 1.25 track and it came with 27/38 gears i have had it up to 119.9mph on GPS. i jus feel the sled has more power in there somewhere. i beat well set up mach z 1000s, but not by very much. can anyone point me in the right direction for the right clutching/gearing set up? its the way i bought it and havent played with it yet. is it gonna go better or is this all it has? any advice on set up would be great, thanks

Just in reference, I got 130mph out of my 800 ZX 136"....

I would say you SHOULD get much better than 120mph out of 200+ hp on a sled.

Check everything is strait... which is more than probably not.

Here are basic things:

Track alignment, skid alignment, bearings, track not rubbing on tunnel, sprockets alignment, ski alignments, suspension setup, clutch alignment, chaincase alignment.

tracks good, skis good, bearings all seem to turn free, drivers r good, not to sure about suspension, i know i am gettin to much ski lift, dealer aligned the clutchs so i'd like to think there good. just did chain and gears and all looks well

I'd double check those HP numbers, 15 lbs should get you way more than 205HP.

Did you just look at these thing or took time to take precise measurements?

Doing all this on my 800 took my almost 1 full week... but after that... the sled was.... freeeeeeeeeeeeeeee hence the high top speed.

Not sure about vector? but 27/38 is hell of a setup. I'm new in the boosts world, but mine is gear 25/38 and has similar HP. Maybe that is something you may want start looking.
Also, where are you from? You should fill up your location.

I wish someone at TY would make the location field mandatory when new users are registerring.

mc express claims 185hp on 91 oct fuel at 12 psi and 205 on 110 at 15

Just seems lower than it's potential, ballpark rule of thumb is around 10HP per lb of boost... Does it not come with an intercooler?
205 is still a hoot! Pretty tall gearing, too.

really? well it dont even feel like 205 when i line up beside a mach. that gearing is pretty steep, but its what it came with. i think i have a 25 in the drawer here that im gonna try. yes it has an intercooler

At 205 HP I would run a 24/38 setup for dragracing 660-1000 ft on snow, I don't think you will run out of gear until 127-128 MPH on the gun. Doing speedruns 2000 ft gear it higher like 25, you do not have the power to run out a 27/38 gearing no matter the distance. Too high of gearing (27/38) is going to kill your short drag race ETs

see thats why im confused, its still fast in 660 feet, i guess it could only get faster! i'm sure i have a 25 outa my old rx1 sitting around somewhere, have to put in it and play. so by the sounds of it, a 25 will give me more bottem and more top, due to shifting out all the way?
