Typical MPG on tow vehicle?

2017 GMC 2500 HD Denali Diesel. all stock
Ran from Long Island NY to Old Forge pulling 3 place inline with 2 Yamaha Venture 2 ups and a Apex .
75 mph most off the time.
I idled it a lot while I was at trailer between rides because it was so cold out.

Week earlier with Apex in back of truck running up to Montague Tug hill
was running around 72MPH most of the time pretty much the same roads
That was on the way up before any idling.

RCK I did not see MPG in post

How about now.

Myth buster alert!!!!

87 octane netted me 9.0mpg going 65-70
91 octane netted me 8.8mpg going 70-75

I know I was traveling faster on the way back. But for 25yrs of going up and coming back. I've always gotten better fuel mileage on the way home.

Black ice almost took me out for the season, on the way up.

I had a 2014 Sierra 1500 which pulled the trailer fine but on some parts of the mountains it would downshift and rev the whole time. I got around 9.5 mpg.

2013 GMC Sierra Z71, 5.3 L V8, 3:42 reae axle... TOw at about 65-75 mph, get about 13 MPG. Live in Michigan so sort of flat.

Has anyone been reading up on the new 3.0L V6 Diesel in the Job 2 2018 F150? boasting 30 mpg, 11,400 pounds towing, 250 hp and 440 lb.-ft. of torque. Check it out here https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2018/01/08/first-ever-f-150-diesel.html
Guy's i love my ford truck's and am hoping that this motor gets better, its been around in Europe in land Rover vehicle's for a while and is somewhat ok there, here its in the ford transit van series and its a complete turd, nothing but problems, probably cause of the stricter emissions.

my old 25'x6' enclosed trailer would net me that milage in towhaul all day with 3 sleds in trailer and one in the box of the truck as well. you want to use tow haul as it raises the pressure on the clutches in your tranny whitch helps them last longer. the rev up is better for the engine than the lugging for sure.
And in GM vehicles tow/haul shuts down the silly active fuel management.

Black ice....oh sure now it’s a racial thing! I know white ice can be bad too!

2014 ram 2500 6.7 cummins 6 speed pulling my 8.5'x24' enclosed trailer I normally average 14mpg..

Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
should update this towing into the wind with snow both ways last weekend to munising and back i averaged 10.6mpg with 5 sleds in the trailer 4 of which were 4-strokes. must say that was the most fuel iv ever used for that trip

Last trip netted me 8mpg. Just getting worse. Lol!
Might have to look at that new 3.0 diesel from Ford.
Even though Ford rates it at 30mpg. I make a bet it's 15mpg or less when pulling.
We all know how that goes.....

8mpg???? I got that from a '93 throttle body 1 ton with 4.10 and old three speed. Lol.
