I have a 2016 xtx 1.7 track with ulmer clutch kit.Setup 50 ys weights heel 2’washers none in middle and4-2 in tip.opo primary spring red secondary at 3-3 48/36 helix.Hits 91-9200 and starts slipping 50 mph and up tops out at 75.Secondary not opening more than 2/3.cleaned both clutches and primary drags on sliders with 3000 miles on sled.Has Straightline can and milled for 8dn belt.Have tried ulmer for a month so just trying to get suggestions on how to stop slipping in secondary.

Also wanted to ask is it normal for primary clutch to stay open with spring out.It will close with a little pressure but I know all my previous sleds(Polaris and cat)would collapse freely with spring removed. With 3000 miles I would have thought clutch would be a lot looser with spring removed. Thanks for any info

All these views and no feedback?Bouht the sled used and would like to know if this is proper setup or if previous owner had changed things. He said no but thinking he may have altered it.I know call the maker of the kit but I just haven’t had any luck on that route.Any feedback would be helpful
Thanks

Give it a few days, it’s still summer so lots of guys don’t check this site until fall. I have a Yamacat, so I can’t really help you out.

What do you mean no luck with contacting Ulmer?

Think you are to light on base and to heavy on tip, mine was 129" so will be a little different, had 9 gr on base hole, 2 washers and gold slug that is 7 gr and 1 or 2 washers on tip, center empty always thought his pink secondary spring was to light and would be worse on long track, so i would try that at 70 to 90 degrees and see what it does. Clutch bushing is probably full of belt dust and needs good cleaning to slide better. This should get you in the ballpark and then just fine tune from their, believe you want to be around 8700 to 8900 rpm.

Thank you I was thinking I was running to high on rpm.Do you think I should stick with red secondary spring?
Thanks for your info

Yes i think you are a couple grams light total on weight and with most of it on tip and light sec spring you were probably over shifting then would slip belt and not have power to pull it back up, loading heavy on base will bring engagement down and give you good grip on belt, ulmer pink worked well on hard pack but didn't back shift enough on warm soft snow or deep snow imo, i always ended up back to yamaha pink sec, can try his but add more twist for better back shift, all you can do is test for your conditions and hopefully someone with same sled will chime in or allen will get back to you.
