What is stock gearing on an 08 venture lite? I see the Yamaha parts schematic shows 17,18,19 and 20 tooth top gears and 40,41,45 and 46 bottoms. They also show 2 different length chains to accommodate the different gear sets. I know the MP has a lower gear set and read about guys going to a 17 tooth top gear for better gearing, just curious on what I already have to see if its worth the work.

Again it is all in what you are looking for in the end, gearing down is the next best thing to horse power. If top speed is not your interest - gear down. call a dealer near you and they will be able to tell you the stock gearing - my manual shows 07 VL with 45/19 gear set. the MP is a 45/18 gear set. and I am running a 45/17 with a top speed of around 120kph with a 159X16X2 challenger track.
