viper diet....

Got a few good hours in the shop, finished up the decal kit and install the exit shocks
Finally got the chain hoist hung! Suck a simple task but it all takes time
weight gained by the exit shocks over stock 4.7 lbs

Looks good, really starting to come together!! I bet you can't wait for snow!! Like us all!!

very very excited for snow, BUT in the morning both my viper and nytro will be getting put on the dyno so I can report hoursepower numbers from both builds!! I wont be sleeping for the next few nights

Well that should be fun, and some good info!!! Can't wait to hear the results!

sorry it has been a while since I have posted here
Got my first ride of the season in (110kms down a old highway and only used 1/2 tank!) For the first 30 min I was a huge puss puss. Also first ride since my accident last year, I was feeling the nerves for sure. Once we found some deeper snow and I got to do a few very quick carves everything came back and felt like nothing happened! I cant explain how thankful I am to be riding and appreciate a simple carve!!!!!
All right back to clutching.....
I think while I was gone some one changed my clutching a bit (but not sure) I was down over 500 rpm on a packed trail with very little load on my track
primary spring: yellow/pink/yellow 30-113
secondary 39 degree helix @ 100 tension
belt ribs were below the secondary sheave
8BU weights w/ single steel rivet in heel....total 53.2 grams each

Next trip I will make two small changes
primary spring pink/silver/pink 35-134 I plan to have it over rev a bit and adjust from there
secondary will stay the same (would like to put in a 37 degree helix later)
added a alum rivet w/ hole to tip of weight
total weight 54.05 not a huge change right away,
I am expecting to over rev by 300-400 rpm , I would like to add a steel rivet w/ hole = 2.44 grams in place of the alum 0.85 gram one
My biggest problem is gauging how much over rev I want down here in town so when I end up at the summit I am closer to the 88-9000 rpm range

Great to hear your out riding again. You will return to almost normal in no time, lol, I say that joking as it will always be in the back of your mind. Heck the older I get the more the old injurys return. Ride on and Rock out!!!

town elevation is 2200 feet and the summit I ride at is 2900 to 3400 feet. For the most part we ride at the summit and play in some of the low lying fields.

I was hoping to get a weight with the fuel tank full and empty too see how far I have come along with the weight loss program. Yamaha spec sheets for a 2014 xtx viper shows a curb weight of 585lbs and a dry weight of 505
I have just over 3/4 tank of fuel, the fuel gauge is showing a black line to the very tip of the "L" towards the full side. The sucker pump has kicked the bucket so no empty tank weight sorry
Not the greatest picture showing the machine off the bench.

Very happy with 550lbs.
If some one can post an xtx or mtx 153 full of fuel on a scale that would be awesome! At this point it would be easier for me to fill my tank and compare full weights
Thanks!!

The YAMAHA RE-FLASH TOOL SHOWED UP late Friday night
We re-flashed an LTX for a test unit and it was a snap! No joke easiest thing I have done to a sled yet!
The LTX was bone stock and it took maybe 15 min to set it all up and re-flash. We then moved over to my machine with the pcv & auto tuner plugged in and tried to get the re-flash update to work..... A lot of people are gonna say that PCV should fix the start issues....... My machine with everything I have done to it IS THE WORST MACHINE TO START!!!! I cant express how much I dread starting my machine in front of other riders or customers!
With that being said the re-flash worked even with the PCV installed, I have left my machine out side for the night and it started this morning first try! IF YOU HAVE A 14 VIPER GET THE RE-FLASH DONE programmer or not just do it, what do you have to loose??

I'm glad your back! Nice to hear everything came back! After my crash I lost a little bit, and get nervous a little quicker! Not willing to go through that pain and down time again for a couple of MPH around a corner or hitting a jump. I'm thinking for me anyway a little slower is safer...lol...

You are the first to mention actually having the reflash done. This is good news. At least we now know it exists and is being sent out. The sled looks good!

Got my second smaller battery at work today, Started out with our YTX20LBS (the tank) , switched over to a 14 series shorai (LFX14LS-BS12) with 210 cca The battery worked really good but was very tight under the seat.
The new battery is about the same weight just over 3lbs LFX18A-BS12 cca 270 and all bundled up in a smaller package. Didn't really think 60cca would make much of a difference but when I crank the machine over I was very surprised how much stronger the starter sounded.

Now I just need Yamaha to put the parts breakdown on the internet so I can price out a new mountain steering post and seat for the XTX.
AND the updates from evo on the re-flash for the ECU. I am just chomping at the bit to send mine out
