2014 Viper XTX SE (2,500+ miles) - no issues whatsoever! Starts better and faster than the Apexs, RX-1s, and Vectors I ride with. The ride is outstanding, it looks and sounds fantastic, and nothing has been changed (apart from the factory recalls), just added some hand guards and a skid plate. Definitely looking forward to the next few seasons!

1,400 miles on my 2015 DX LTX, and it is the best sled I have ever owned or ridden on any trail, or in any conditions. I had a light in the instrument pod go out at about 300 miles; other than that, it has been gas and go.

2014 LTX SE Just back from 1350 mile saddle bag trip around Maine. Total miles now at 5440. Still on original sliders and Bergstroms that I installed when new.Did the recalls and made couple of changes to the sled, but absolutely zero problems. Coming from an Apex at first I missed the top end , but not now. Ride and handling some much better; just an all around fun sled to ride.

It good to see that there are a lot of Vipers out there with no problems.

You only get the answers you ask for. Most people come here looking for answers to problems or have questions they can't find answers to elsewhere.

So when new people come here they mistakenly think there are many problems with the viper which is not the case. Some people have had a problem, and a few people have had a few problems and one or two people have had a serious problem. But by far these are the best sleds we have ever had and the first I've had since the 1978 model year that has been problem free.

Thats very true. I agree

I would have to agree with you. I have been looking and reading what I could on the Viper for the pass 2 years as I wanted one.
I also most walked away after reading all the bad things people had to say. Even MY sled almost pulled the plug on it with so much
negativity around this sled.

So I decided to ask some question around the positive side of the sled and there a lot of happy people out there.
I did put in a spring order for one.

Sometimes you have to read between the lines too. We complain about hand warmers and some starters, the Doo and Poo forums complain about the 2nd or 3rd engine exploding.

1500 miles here and nothing that left me stranded. I get a P2300 code that nobody else does but so far its always cleared itself up. Havent had the reflash done yet. Only rode it two days this year.

Changing out the wobble bearing next fall.

Yes you are very right.
But it's good to see some high miles /KM on a lot of viper with no problems.
Arctic cat got this engine in most of there sleds now, I'm guessing with the same set up. Hope between Yamaha and Cat the bugs should be worked out.

I believe my season is over with 5800 mi on. Sled has never left me stranded or even missed a single day of riding. Has been the most trouble free Yamaha I have ever owned and the easiest to maintain myself. Its paid for and still under warranty which has covered things most probably wouldnt. I have been modding my sled not because I have to but because I want too. It is a great FUN sled absolutely stock. Long term plan is for 7 years or so out of this one and then my Daughter or wife will ride it. Just like my Phazer. I expect 3 or more average sled lives out of this sled. It will do it. If I had to buy another sled I would buy another Viper. What more can a guy say?
