WARNING! SLP Anti- Wear Pads

You got 8K miles out of them Bob and I know they worked for you - Just curious are you going to order more and continue using them?
I am surprised SLP doesn't make them out of something other than carbon steel. Wonder if there is any reason you couldn't "hard face" them with some welding? Did you poke the guys at SLP to see if there were any plans to offer them in another material?

I love mine and would recommend them but you DO have to watch for wear. Sorry you found out the hard way!!

Yes I ordered more and will continue to use them. This time I'll keep a closer eye on them ;)!
I did inform the person taking the order at SLP, but I got the impression that (He could care less :o| )
If I where to hard suface them it would be too involved. It would be easier and cheaper to change them every 5 - 6000 miles.

Incredible nice job putting those together better than new.

Looking close at the extreme wear section, the set of wheels (4) positioned where they are on the rails.

Couldn't they be moved forward some, and add another wheel forward of those at the apex.
The 4 where they are doesn't look to be a huge advantage point.

Could this be a track that's a little tight? Or hard pack dry conditions?
We seem to have the wetter snow in Minnesota.
I've seen scratchers in ad's, and would these help in the drier hard pack snow?

Now these wear buttons, and this is the first I've seen of them.
Seems odd they are steel faced.
I'd think something slippery like teflon, or the like.
Then probably wear faster. Trade offs perhaps.

I have very few miles on my sled, so my experience with any of it is slim. I plan on making some changes after seeing this.
That's one heck of of a project You had there.
