So I have a 2009 Phazer GT- I live in the Northeast, getting pounded with snow on the regular lately..and I'm not complaining. Have a starting issue that came out of nowhere. Usually the sled is kept in its clamshell trailer as I take the sleds further north into NH, and ME on the weekends. Due to all the snow, I've kept it in the driveway under its factory cover so I can tool around whenever there's enough snow and a state of emergency in Mass. So for the past 2 weeks I've kept it covered but outside, occasionally buried in snow. I dig it out the next day..no problems. It has had a weak battery for some time so I have been jumping it with a power pack...As soon as I hook it up, starts right up first turn, good to go. On friday night, prepping to head north, same deal..jump pack, starts. I let it sit running in the driveway fore about 25 mins before driving it onto the trailer and closing it up. Head to NH, with windchill it was about -15 give or take. Next morning, pull it off the trailer, jump pack it...its a slower start than normal. Barely jumps up and take about 30 seconds to turn over and start. When it does start, there was a low bog sound and the idle was very very low, about 900-1000 rpm. Its never done this before. Never really revs up enough to heat up n get going to put in gear or anything and eventually just shuts off all together. I try to restart with the jumppack etc..no dice. Same sounds only weaker. I held on the starter a few times for longer than I would have liked to see if she's come roaring to life..pipe dream. Put it back on the trailer and rode the nytro instead.

So I drag the trailer home, read 500 blogs, posts, etc re: starting issues and everything in between. Totally lost on what could have happened. Still no idea. Put a brand new battery in it sunday.

Current situation: Sled (about 800mi on it) is in the covered trailer, full tank of brand new gas, Air filter is clean and clear, brand new battery, fuel pump engages and everything seems normal when switch key to on position...Turn the key, it cranks normal for about 4-5 seconds, sounds like its about to fire up, may start and idle around 900-1000rpm for a minute before shutting off or not kick into a start at all. Will hit 900 rpm if I hold the key in the start position for a few seconds. With all the panels taken off...I noticed there is a coat of ice/frost in various areas throughout. I took a hairdryer to all the relays and terminals etc to warm and dry...Still no luck and problem remains. It has been and remains cold here in Mass but nothing too extreme the sled hasn't been through before. Any and all ideas or suggestions would help. Much appreciated.

Also..No warning light on and no codes have appeared on the screen.

I knew that could be a possibility. Was hoping to cover any and all causes before having to take off the seat, tanks etc. just to find out. Wasn't sure how I could have fouled a plug in the process of it running normal one day and then this the next without any incidents in between. If I don't make any progress, that's my next move. Appreciate the input, thank you.

X2 check plugs, or just replace them if you got it that far taken apart

Check air filter too

Would a fouled plug(s) turn on the engine service warning light? Or make a fault code show up? As of right now, I have neither the warning light or any problem codes.

Bad tank of fuel??? I know it's not likely these days but it's possible. try running some injector cleaner in it.
Make sure the new battery is fully charged.
Once you get it going and it's warm, run it pretty good to get any build up out.
Kinda sounds like the problem I had when I first bought my machine years ago. Cranked over too slow and wouldn't start without a touch of throttle. I end up putting new plugs and a bigger cca battery.

Possibly a bad ground. Triple check that one. 99.7% of Phazer issues is that darn ground block. Causes so many problems when it starts to fail.

If battery is bad as stated, it's quite possible the starter relay has gotten weak as well. Both weak would crank engine over to slow to get oil pressure up enought to start. Having a bad ground in the loop and a combination of all the above will leave you with a slow turn over start up.
What is your voltage of the battery after it sits for 20-45mins? These Yami batteries are pretty darn good. Don't fail very often. Upping CCA won't solve anything.

Usually you'd see a "LO-OP" (low oil Pressure) light up while cranking. (my 14 does it everytime until fire up. Never seen it on my 07)

Mainly on newer ones from what i've dug up. ECU won't allow engine to run. You will also get a quick "Code 30" as it stalls. Indicating again, Low Oil Pressure. I've seen that code on both Phazers when you chop the trottle when stopped or RPM's drop to low brapping around at very low speeds. Usually air cleaner is getting gunked up (snow dust, ice ect ect) But you have to really watch for it. It disapears quickly.

Finally, Do you know how to adjust your RPM on your sled? if so, not knowing your operating RPM, its just plain old set to low. All my cold starts sled starts at set RPM. Runs for a few seconds then the ecu ups the rpm to warm things up. I will say, the Phazers are the weirdest of the bunch for slow sounding starting. You would almost swear the batteries were weak or the sled will never start with such a slow starter. But they do!! Both 07 and 14 I have to hold key an extra second or two after it starts to maintain the start. (hot starts and cold starts, cold being the longer you hold it for) With all 4 strokers, starting up for a few seconds in or out of a garage and shutting them down is not good usually. If you do, warm to full operating temp. If this is the case, cold start, start fail then leave it for awhile they the guys may be right. PLUGS. That's a huge tear down.

Bring it into a warm place for 24 hrs. I bet your airbox has a bunch of ice in it

Sounds like its only running on one cylinder. Had similar symptoms earlier this year on a different machine. Mine was a result of dirty carb. Check plugs first.
