The whole nose assembly was packed with ice, after deicing the sled i also noticed that the coolant was empty whats up with having to tear down half of your sled to chek to oil and coolant level,i dont like that at all i came from Cat to Yamaha to simplify my riding i do not have the time to tear my sled down to check everyday fluid checks

I am old school and the more I ridethis sled the more i dislike it.

There's an idiot light on the dashboard to let you know when the oil is low. Its not based on fuel pressure, its got an electric dipstick. As for the coolant, once the bubbles are out, you can forget about it.

But yeah, I agree that the cover on it is really stupid. It should definitely be hinged and strapped like they were last year.

The placement of the coolant overflow tank is terrible. I haven't got to ride mine yet, but this is one thing I noticed right away. I can tolerate taking the side panel off to check the oil but taking the top cover off to check coolant sucks. I know it should never go down but I like to check that before riding. I have had to add coolant twice and it sucks.

One thing I have decided I will do. If I ever do take my sleds back to the dealer it will go back without the side panels or hood panel installed. It's not worth the chance of the hood being scratched up.

Access

I agree that access to the coolant tanks could have been better-dismantled some of my sled to check it over-not a trailside event. Coolant recovery tank was empty.

Wouldn't want to think of changing a spark plug on it out on the trail(shouldn't need to though).

If you dont like the side panels and collant tank acess, wait till you decide to change the spark plugs. Even with those difficulties Id burn a barn full of cats and polaris' before Id sell this Yamaha.

From what I have seen there is Two tanks. My take is that the first tank should be filled to the top and the second is for the overflow and should be almost empty. A better solution than lost green stuff in the snow...

Coolant tank level

Both the owner's manual and service manual state to have coolant in the "recovery" tank filled to the line on the side of the tank.
