The other day, I hit a mound of snow from a frost heave at about 75 and it launched me. I landed and rode it out but my bars were tweaked a bit. Upon further investigation, I found that my ski alignment was out by quite a bit but I don't see anything bent. Any ideas? Is it possible that I just hit so hard that I tweaked JUST the tie rods? I run my springs pretty loose so I might have smacked the bulkhead but again, everything looks straight. I have a skid plate so I can't tell if I did in fact hit the bulkhead or not.
The bulkhead will be either broken or not. Being cast, it won't bend.
It is possible from an impact like that, that you may have twisted the steering column, but that doesn't explain alignment. How did the alignment change? Toes IN or OUT? You could have bent the spindles or twisted upper or lower a-arms on either side. Any of these may not show well visually.
They were toed out. We measured 41.5 inches on the back skeg stud and 42.75 on the front stud. We looked close and did not see any paint flaking on the a-arms or anything visable. I manged to ride another 80 miles home without out issue once we re aligned the skis so my guess is its nothing major but I still want to find it and make it right.
