What to use for trail gps and mount?

Ya, the Garmin 55, 57, 58, 65, 67, 68 all use a USB port on the back to connect to power. They do not have a docking port.

So you can get a RAM cradle for more solid mounting, but you will still be connecting that USB cord for juice. I could be wrong, but look at the lower edge, there should be electrical contacts. But we have a few of the 50 series in our group, and they are all USB powered.

Last year I had my Montana mounted above the factory gauge, but just moved it to the bars (can't run short windshield with Garmin mounted above the gauge). Similar to others here, I bent up a piece of aluminum/drilled it for mounting. I didn't expect the cover to work, so wasn't as careful trimming it as I could have been. Turns out it will be OK, so ordered another and will make it pretty. Note that there isn't a lot of thread engagement with a ~3/16" plate under the bolts. I bought 4 new ones - M8 x 1.25 40mm I think it was.

Thank you, biffdotorg!

I haven't received my 57 yet. But spent some time looking for a power cradle with no luck. Now I know why. Lol!

It's all good. Going to mount it like I did my last one. Then either use 12volt on dash or power by the case. Which I already have in use for a heated bag to keep my phone warm & working.

I really like the look of the low mount.

I have a nuvi mounted on my daughters Viper. I rode it today and feel the mount is too flat. It's directly on top of the handlebar pad. I needs to be tilted back. I may have to look at your mounts a bit more and adjust. Thanks for sharing guys!
