What's hot and what's not at the shootout

The rebound on 2014 137" rear suspensions is too slow. If you don't have your rear springs on their heaviest setting they may not rebound at all. With the stock suspension rebound could be as long as 2-3 seconds which is way too long. That's why Cannondale27 said his shock guy said his rear suspension was "packing". After a few close bumps your suspension is fully compressed and is no longer operational. My buddies 2014 Arctic Cat Snow Pro 1100T is the same way. My wife's LTX DX is not like this.

I agree that suspension set up is totally subjective. What might be right for me might not be right for you. Just remember this---your spring is your ride, the shock controls the spring. For ME, the spring change made more of a difference than the revlave. The revalve was the topping.
I HOPE a turbo Viper isn;'t a waste of mony!!!! I have turbo for my own grin factor, not racing.

Fun factor of the turbo is top notch! Had one long stretch of fresh groomed trail last night that was very hard packed. With was riding behind me and she only likes to ride around 35 mph which is ok cuz it's a nice relaxing pace, coming off one corner to a longer straightaway, hit it wot, watched gauges to see afr and boost read 5, by the time I looked at the speedo it read 75, 85, 92 then I backed off, and there wasn't an end in sight for hard fast it was accelerating. That was a matter of a few seconds from 35-90+, and the whole time the headlight was shining up off the trail, wife said skis were off the ground for as far as she could see, the thing is tho, if you sit a little more forward on the seat you can ride every bit as fast thru corners and still have no ski lift and no excessive weight transfer marking it harder to steer, it's just an all around great package

If your rebound is too slow are you sure your rear shock isn't spent? A few people had some issues with the rear shock--I think Studroes had one blow out on him. I just changed out a set of springs on a 2014 A/C turbo sno-pro last night to the softer ones. That thing wouldn't even move on the lowest spring setting and rode very stiff. He rode my Viper with the softer springs and ordered a set from Hygear---who also recomended a set of springs before the revalve of the rear shock.

something that awesome why would you even think about keeping it to yourself

Carver. His exact words were "its packing up" there is more than just a revalve involved.

Exactly. That was my issue with my 137" shocks even more so than the stiff valving. After hitting consecutive moguls, they do not rebound quick enough.

This summer I put on another pair of stock shocks that I got from a guy that had Hygear do up including a dual rate front skid spring, but I have no seat time on them yet. I'm hoping they addressed the rebound. If not, I'm sending my stock pair out to Carver. He has done some great shock work for me in the past.

They have been that way since new. Only have 878 miles on the sled and I'm sure they are not blown out. I'm getting the springs and shocks as a package from Hygear so I am confident they will be great. The shocks worked best on jumps about 50 feet apart at 40-45 MPH while accelerating on the uphill side.

So what was hot at the Shootout??? This thread has wandered off topic just a touch....

Is anyone running their turbo Viper up over 120 miles per hour? If so are you having any belt issues like the cat turbo is having?
