Dealer mentioned might need a wheel kit on the Sidewinder (LTX-LE. ) Anybody know if this is true? He didn't sound 100% sure himself, but said something about the rear wheels not being enough?

I'm concerned about the samething. Lots of noise on the Viper site about an extra two particularly when adding the MPI turbo.

Are you talking about 3rd wheel kit for the rear ?
If so I was told the artic cat one is cheaper (same thing)

You would add an extra two wheels on the AC chassis. It comes with two inner wheels and the addition is two outer wheels. The Yamaha chassis comes with three and you add a 4th if you are so inclined

Add the 4th wheel kit. Cheap insurance. Mine blew out at 2200 miles on my turbo viper and your stranded, not cool.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of any of this. Guess it's a good thing it was brought up.

No they would have to be 4th,what some did on the procross cats we had,you just screw in an extra wheel on each side to the tri hub in the middle, but its not as strong as removing that hub,and getting the complete 4 wheels and solid shaft, for around $250 complete, but IMO you wont have many problems with the trihub,I ran mine for 3000 miles until it needed to be replaced, and many have not replaced with many more miles than that, and my sled had a TD stage 4 tune,210-310hp.

My whole TRI HUB blew up at 2600 miles and lucky its covered under warranty BUT I will be adding the 2 outside wheels I have been told it is the only way to help prevent this. I also don't like that the bearings in the tri hub are not replaceable so you have to replace the whole thing if they go bad. and OH yeah mine is bone stock LTX

If it's same Tri-Hub as the Viper I'd pull it out before the first ride and replace with a kit that offers better bearings and 4 wheels. I used the J&T kit.

I have had the wheel kits on all 3 of my vipers put on by my Yamaha dealer, and in fact he recommends everyone he sells a viper too to use the wheel kit all my riding buddies all have the wheel kits and we have put thousands of kilometers on them and have not seen a failure and if the hub does fail, you can make it home on the wheel kit for sure....

I also put the two extra wheels, at 1200 miles I also changed out my TRI HUB as it had one slightly rough sounding bearing. New Trihub has replaceable bearings and have heard that with the 4 th wheel kit the trihub last- rumor but likely true.. Will not know until next fall when I pull the skid and inspect...........part of fall excitement. If bearing is rough will replace. Yamadoo

You will be ok till about 3000 miles, mine was still ok,but good time to change out because you could feel the bearing getting rough, this was on 2013 turbo cat lxr.
