Yes I was reading the same thing about there clutch rubbing water pump , but I only herd of one so far , they think they put the wrong clutch on it because the tapper is wrong and goes to deep .

Glad I'm not getting the 7000 !!!! ;)!

It had to be assembled wrong because there is no way that they could have engineered, tested, and demo ridden thousands of miles with it rubbing. There are unseen defects that can show up, but if Cat is actually knowingly producing a sled that grinds it's clutch on the water pump then I'd be very worried about buying a Viper as well.

My Dad is picking up his new XF 7000 LXR next Friday. I think it will be a good sled. You might questions why anyone would buy the AC version, but then again there are people like my Dad who has been on Cats since 1971. If it doesn't say Arctic Cat on it he won't ride it. I actually had a very hard time convincing him that the Yamaha 1049 triple will be a superior engine to the Suzuki NA 1100 twin for performance because he thinks the 1100 is "more Cat" LOL... Heck I told him I'd pick it on sound alone. The 1100 sounds terrible.

I think he is going to really like it. I will have to report back once he (and I) get a chance to ride it.

Why would you worry about the viper the engine and clutches have been together along time , 08 till now .
All I have herd was one 7000 that was rubbing , thats far from all by a long shot , anyways they both will be great sleds

I said some 7000, no where did I say viper lol

I was just saying it sounds like an assembly defect and with Arctic Cat that happens often. The Yamaha clutches are better no doubt, but with the changes AC made for 2014 along with the smooth character of the Nytro engine I bet the 7000 will be just fine. It seems to me that the Cat clutches are fine until you cross about 150 HP and that's when reliability starts to suffer especially with the Turbo 1100. I'm not sure why Cat can't build a good clutch but it's something they have struggled with for their entire corporate life... both pre and post bankruptcy. They did use a Comet set-up in the 80's and 90's that was reliable, but anything they have produced like the old Hex or the current primary and secondary are trouble prone.

And to think they are now building their own lean 600 2 stroke? That's a seizure waiting to happen.

LOOK! I found my red one!

Always loved the red and black. Noticed you have a lift under the front of your sled. How do you like it?

Bought a J&S Jacks air jack, now I just need to get the air side of the lift working. Hydraulics and foot pump work fine, their sending a new jack assembly Monday. #$%&*

my dealer text me today. in transit. has december 5&6 booked to install the mcxpress turbo. cant wait. not overly happy that the turbo kit instalation calls for cutting the plastic on the right side. but thinking of seeing if thers other options or locations to allow air in. i ll know more when it finally comes in.

Haven't used it much yet, just built it a couple weeks ago but it does lift the sled nicely. We put a socket on the jack so I can run it up with my impact gun.

Got mine together last Thursday, when I found the issue I called the manufacturer, and we agreed that they would send the replacement air jack this Monday. Been out of town since then with the family.

Getting too old to lay on the ground even if the garage is heated!

Picked mine up today.
