I bought the yamaha saddlebags but they are really small, hard to get 1 night of clothes in it. wondering if any one has a good source for bigger bags that hold up well and fit well.
Thanks,
Mike

I am considering buying the Yamaha combination sport luggage saddlebags. Is this the Yamaha bags that you find too small?
We usually tour for a week at a time, so I need lots of room.
So far the best saddlebags that I have found are the Polaris deluxe bags, which have a bag on top of the seat as well as a bag on each side. I think these might rub the paint off of the exhaust cones. Check them out on the Polaris web site. I have used them for years on both Polaris machines and my Viper.[/quote]

The Polaris saddle bags fit very nicely on the Apex. They have several versions, saddle/trumk bag combos for $99 to $139 ithink. one version has zippers that will allow the compartments to expand if neede

I put the RX/RS Deluxe Semi-Rigid Saddlebags on my Apex and they fit perfect and are pretty big. They cost 149.95 so they are not cheap but they have the recess with pads so they fit perfectly around the exhaust covers without scratching them. They are on pg 11 of the 06 accessories & apparel book and the no is: SMA-8FA73-60-DX. I looked at the combination Sport Luggage bag and it was waay too small.

T-Bone,
Have you actually tried the DeluxePolaris Saddle bags on the Apex?
How do they sit with respect to the exhaust covers and did you use something to protect the paint? since there is no "hump" in the seat of the apex, do you simply spread out the bottom of the bag before attaching?
Thanks
Dave

I bought the GEARS saddlebags that are sold by Parts Unlimited. I also tour for a week at a time. They are nice as far as size goes we will see how well they hold up. I also put the yamaha trunk bag on top so I have plenty of room. The Gears bags cost $69.00

I have 3 Yamaha bags on my Apex.
Nose-cone bag full of emergency type items (tow strap, jumper cables, siphon hose, med-kit).
Handlebar bag with cell-phone, GPS, maps, etc.
Saddle bags, only put on for overnighter type trips. I just put a coupl pairs of underwear/socks and a pair of jeans and a shirt, and a toothbrush. Holds enough gear for me.

I bought a set of Choko Deluxe Bags and had an extra strap sewn on the bottom so I could attach each side to the rear bumper away from the exhuast pipes. Seem to work ok, side bags fairly roomy and a small top bag. Planning on a 5 day trip next week so what ever I can get into the bags will be what I take. However, one caution an earlier trip I took the bags to make sure they stay put on the sled and found they rubbed some paint off the exhaust housing near the rear. I have hand sawn on a soft cotton backing to the bag to avoid the rubbing of paint . The same problem on my wife's Vector but did"nt mark the paint as bad. Oh well give me some thing to fix this Spring.
